DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

Blockley are I believe a relatively new and low volume producer of tyres and tubes for Classic Cars.

At the London Classic Car Show in January they quoted me £300+VAT for a set of their 165 VR 15 tyres.

I have a set of 5.5Jx15 steel wheels for my 1968 911L that I am intending to put these on. I still intend to use the 6J x 15 Fuchs that came when I purchased the car in 2010 as times.

Has anyone any experience of Blockley Tyres?

What tyre size would people recomend for my 5.5J steel wheels?

The 6J Fuchs with Vredenstein 185/70 VR 15 tyres look too big to my thinking.

The chap that runs Blockley is very knowledgable, I had a long chat with him at Stoneleigh Race Retro last year, but I haven't used his tyres. A 5.5 will handle a 185/70, but the car would have been on 165 tyres from new, and I think they handle better on the original tyre sizes.

I haven't tried them but they were recommended highly by a number of people. I was considering what tyres to get for my 356 and the guys down at the Classic Car Club in London suggested Blockley. They had used the tyres and thoroughly recommended them. Said they liked the look and the handling was very good.

Sounds an interesting story - I understand the guy that owns the brand couldn't find what he wanted, so decided to make it himself.

I was at Karmann Konnection today & they have a set of Blockley tyres fitted to their newly restored '68 912.

I asked Paul what he thought of them & he said he'd been very impressed - they certainly looked 'right'.

I know several people who've fitted them to Alfa Giulietta Sprints with good results too.

I have them on my car. Very impressed. 185/70s on 5.5Jx15 rims.

Julian Majzub runs the company – a leading light in classic racing circles. You'll hear his name a lot over the Tannoy at Goodwood Revival. Owns various interesting cars, including a Porsche 906...

I have friends with them on a Bentley MK VI and 403 Bristol. The cross ply ones behave like crossplies and they howl like an air raid siren. I've no experience of their radial ply versions.

As the new issue is just out (well, to subscribers), on page 39 I see Blockley is offering the first 100 people to apply a set of 165VR15s for £200+VAT, or 185/70VR15s for £250+VAT – and your money back in full if you don't like them...

You'll find Camskill offer every available height of 15" tyre, but there's no such thing as a full height radial. If the aspect ratio isn't quoted it'll be 80%.

I've used Camskill many times - I was confused because the link you posted goes to their 185x15 tyre offerings ...

When I said 'full height' I meant the maximum profile used (80-82%) prior to the introduction of lower profiles.

One of my Fuchs refurb customers sent a set of 185/70VR15s for £250+VAT Blockleys to me to fit on his rims. They look good.



They come wrapped, which makes fitting more difficult especially on tubed rims that don't have a proper well. This can be ameliorated by unwrapping a day early and spreading the beads with timber spacers.

Are they designed to run with or without tubes?
