Captain Ahab Jr wrote:Evening gents, thanks for taking an interest in my car

Reluctantly I've reached the conclusion that this car is too much of a project for me

I've tried to pitch the price at a level that will hopefully appeal to someone that's missed the fully restored air cooled Porsche boat but has the right skills, time, patience and money to eventually restore this car back to the condition it deserves.

I will obviously direct the new owner to this part of the internet as I'm sure they will need some support from a friendly bunch of like minded enthusiasts

To fill a hole in your records I can confirm the reg. no. is RCS 12H, colour is red and it was first registered in July 1970.

If anyone can add anything to the story of this car I'd really appreciate it as I've not done any research into its past.
Awesome thanks I'll add it to the list. Hope it goes to a good home, when was it last on the road?

Hi Gooders,
I have just seen your thread. I also made a list of RHD 912s that came onto the market from 2008 onwards - when I had my own 912. My findings include many of yours, but 9 extra ones. The majority were for restoration, and it is interesting to see that some of these have made it onto your MOTD list. Others are still on your restoration list or SORNd.

OUW 9F Black
KYW655D. Black
RPD 447E. Silver
BNH 69E. White
NEG 129E. Slate grey
WGC 422F. Polo Red
RMS 250G. Ivory
FYM 3C. Red (2.2l)
XBY 335F. Blue (2.0l)

You probably know that when this issue came up before on here the numbers of RHD 912s imported to the UK were quoted as roughly:

1966. 105
1967. 81
1968. 43
1969. 68

So a total of about 297 cars of which this thread has now identified 43 - ie. 15%. I wonder how many of the others are still 'alive'?

Best wishes,

Howard

Thanks Howard. I ran the regs through the gov.uk site and 3 of those cars look like they are still on the road witth only very recently expired MOT but still have tax. I didn't know the import numbers, thats really interesting, I can't imagine may other marques that can boast 15% cars that survive especially in our wet climate..

And I had FGO 8C which ended up going though Miggs on here and then onto Germany. Where it still is.....in need of restoration..

Its orginal colour was red, now blue. It's a RHD..

If others remember in the past RHD 912s where popping up all around Southampton for some strange reason for a while there .

Hi , I have a 1969 LWB RHD car, VUU 912G, in white and presented as a '73 RS. 2.2 flat 6 fitted on Webers with tartan front high back seats and Momo steering wheel, front 'S' calipers, Webasto sunroof etc. I bought the car in 1988 and restored it myself. its taxed and MOT'd and does around 200 summer miles per year. Milage is 64,000 and believed to be correct, its only done 2000 miles since 1988 when I bought the car. I'm now restoring a '66 California import 912 numbers matching car. I must be crazy!

Just joined and saw this. You can add my '67 UK-spec HHW137G. SORN, undergoing total resto back into its original light ivory.

It started life as either WGT36G/ WGT37G (the AFN cardex has both!) and then in 1975 had the reg 5599WW (I have tax disc).

Just found this thread. My RHD 1967 912 is RGK5E. I have owned for 20 years and the previous owner had it for 24 years. It had a full bare metal refurbishment 20 years ago and an Andy Prill rebuild on the engine 5years ago.

Hi Everyone

I have just seen this thread, not quite sure how I managed to miss it?

Anyhow I own the 912/6 FYM 3C it was previously red and since restoration is now Signal Yellow. Converted to 2.2 6cyl many years ago, first registered in November 1965 (wooden dash)

Please update your list accordingly

Cheers
Paul

Lovely car Paul, my 912 was also converted to a 2.2 6 cylinder by the previous owner. Mine is currently Polo Red but was originally Bahama Yellow I think very similar to yours. Thanks for the reg.
