Really pleased that you started this thread !
I got heavily into mowers after I sold my 911S , and I use it a lot more often !
Being a member of a ' maverick ' website I just had to give it a ' rat look ' ( as of course you do nowdays).
I started with a base Bosch Rotak 40 GC and then made it real ' cool '.

Image

I dropped the front end a bit and fitted extra light weight 3 part high performance alloys with 'bad boy' tyres

Image

Added a quick shift straight cut lever

How cool is that ??
Must go. Some bloke in a white coat at's the door.

I've got a barn find mower in my garden. In need of recommisioning, but is a 'rare' early Suffolk colt. Must be worth a fortune....

Before you start jumping to conclusions you need to check its one of the original lightweight ones and not the later continuation models

Excellent find, looking forward to the resto thread. :)

I think what Steve has done here is really captured the zeitgeist. As more and more DDkers offload their cars and others keep theirs in boxes in the garage, a thread about lawnmowers could not have come at a better time.

My preference is for an early Ransome, a firm favourite with the traditional green keeper, they can still be spotted occasionally, cutting a fine top on a bentgrass or Bermuda green.
