Recomendations for a high torque starter

Post by roymck »

Looks like my starter has had it . Any recomendations on suppliers for a high torque starter for the 914?

I have a standard starter motor and solenoid sitting in my garage. Good working order when I removed it from the vehicle. £35, located in Poole. I could take it to London Victoria if that would help.

I have one of the hi-torq starter on my race car, we had to put a thin shim between stater and bell housing, otherwise works absolutley great and it's slightly lighter (if I remember righley).
cheers

Fitted one off a later SC without any modifications. Just had to make sure it had a spade connector, however is a bit heavier than the standard one.

All the best,

I agree, i have had the starter from a 3.2 911 (1.2 HP instead of 0.75 HP) on my 6cyl for many years and fires up almost instantly.
