Identify the thing

Post by RSGulp »

Looking into far right side of the engine bay of my '73 911 behind the engine and on the bulkhead I have a round domed cover. It looks a bit like an old school fire alarm bell. Can anyone tell me what it is?

It's a fire alarm bell.

Rare and desirable, do you have pictures ?

Yes, it'll ring to tell you the engine is on fire. Can come in useful at indoor car shows.

Obviously a sound you would never ever want to hear but if the worst comes to the worst it could be a life saver.

Footage here of the alarm being activated...

It just goes to show how helpful people can be on DDK! ask any question and you get a reply in no time.

Hi

I had one of those in my smugglers box. It was a bell don't know why, maybe an old alarm. The car was US origin. Took it out and threw it away.
