A sidenote to your gearbox thoughts; I really don't understand the "industry standard" of dumping the Moss and dropping in a modern gearbox. Just like a 901 takes practice and skill to flog around a Moss does too, but is very enjoyable and rewarding once mastered. I realise my reference is a Mk2 which enjoys the overdrive the E-type lacks, but the Moss is an absolute joy to use. It took a while to get used to the straight cut first gear, and it takes a bootful of throttle to downshift to second silently. That's still part of the charm to me, a good Moss driven well will go days between noisy changes. And the whining first gear is part of the car's soundtrack...
I agree - its takes some practice - buts its part of the joy of my E Type!

I used to have a 3.8 MOD Mk II and must admit I never had any problems with the Moss box

Hi guys, thanks for the encouragement....nice to know that the work is appreciated....

Michel...OCD....and some...there's more to come ...ha ha....and Mark...I will address that shocking oversight on my part....whatever was I thinking...

As for the box...part of me would like to keep it...I just know that with the current diff...3.07 I recall...it's going to run at high revs for cruising....but plenty of time to ponder that one...there is a large group of E Type owners heading up to Bicester on the 24th of April...so I can ask them.....as its hosting a general classic car show on the "drive it day"....miles5...are you part of that group at all...?

More soon

I may be going to Bicester 24th April. I had my diff rebuilt last year. I couldnt get a replacement C&P so changed the ratio (cant remember to what) - but it accelerates even more like a scolded cat but does rev higher (noiser) at crusing speed.

Just sorting out getting my front suspension rebuilt. Not as brave as you - have entrusted all recent work to CMC - which is well worth a visit!
