Cat C back in 2002. Aussie import. - £19,995. Good base for a hot-rod/trackday car if you don't mind about resale value?

Looks nice and the chrome IB cars seem to be in vogue at the moment. But 20k seems a tad steep for a cat C with an incorrect front end.

OK, let's turn it the other way: find an ad for a (presumably) rust-free, mechanically good IB car for less money. I'm sure they're around, but where?

I suspect that's more to do with the fact that it's a part-ex and they don't want to get involved further, as opposed to it being unsound or whatever. Basically getting out of having to offer any kind of used car warranty (although that may be problematic as far as a dealer is concerned).

Neil- this 2.7 engine has very little in common with the 2.7RS engine apart from the crankcases & crank.

the front valance and front lip are from a much later car, i think the integrated fog lights only started with the 3.2 in 1984.

if it was closer to 15k i might be tempted to leave the looks original and get a 993 engine fitted!

You must be mistaken as Paul S says... "This was the same engine as the much coveted Carrera RS, but..."

There were only 21 different parts  : 6 each cylinder heads, pistons and barrels, 2 cam shafts, one induction and injection system. Almost exactly the same!
