Heated Screen group buy

Hi all.
Took a trip down to Ian the other night to collect his SC screen. He's kindly let me use to take to the manufacturer to be 100% sure we're getting the right screen as there is a few variations on the market.

I'm booked in to take it this Saturday morning and get things rolling.

Took Ian's screen down on Saturday to the manufacturers for them to check all dimensions against their pattern before the order placed.

So today had a call from them and Ian's screen won't fit the pattern they have. After chatting furthe we still have options. He's going to phone round to see if he can locate a pattern with the measurements he now has and have some made by another manufacturer or an alternative is have a pattern made. He will know one way or another by the end of the week.

So pleased that we sent the template as we could have found ourselves in a bit of a challenging situation!

Fingers crossed that they are able to sort it out and manufacture to the Speedster Clinic dimensions.

After speaking to the manufacturer again today, he has sourced a pattern to fit the SC screen from another manufacturer.

That's the good news. The bad news is the price has changed.

New prices are as follows;

X5 units £290 plus vat
X15 units £185 plus vat

As you can see we need 15 units to be around the original price of £179 plus. We're only at 6 at the moment.

At least we know that there is the ability to have the screens made however the cost jump is pretty substantial!

Is there any wriggle-room on the price and/or would he be willing to let us go directly to the manufacturer who has the correct template for the SC screen?

Two points to bear in mind when asking the question:

1. By us instisting that he compares his template with the SC screen we have prevented a potentially embarrasing challange. not to say potentially saved him a fair bit of time, cash and hassle, while shown him that not all speedster screens are created equal. I'm sure that, like me, the other chaps in the group buy would have been equally dissapointed had the screens been made and then found to be incorrect.

2. If, as suspected, the template he has is correct for the Chesil screen, there is likely to be a follow-up order for these screens which would compensate for the SC screens being produced elsewhere.

If the revised prices remain as indicated and we remained at the current order level I would have to reduce my order to one unit and keep my un-heated screen as a backup. If we do get enough in the group buy for the 15 unit price (or we are unable to negotiate a much more favourable 5 unit price) then I would consider remaining with my 2 unit order.

Bringing this back to the top as we have taken a small step back finding the correct template/mold for the screen.

Yup, the unit price has increased, but this still represents pretty good value, especially as an effective solution to the windscreen demisting for IVA and safe UK driving (we will get caught in a rain shower at some point!!).

We need a couple more people to come on board to secure the minimum group buy, but should we get a group buy of 15 units or more, then the price reduces dramatically.

Just to be clear, this is for a Speedster Clinic, Speedster (not Coupe) and will fit the screen surround and the body scuttle.

Going to put the order in, in the next month.

Had a chat with the manufacturer yesterday when I picked up my screen about the SC heated ones. Double checked with him he can produce the SC screens within tolerance. He was happy but wanted to double check and send me a paper template to put over a SC screen to double check before the order is placed.
So once it arrives can I forward it to you to confirm??
