Its been a while but its finally time to get the shell ready to go off to the painter. First job over Christmas was to sort some new door hinge bolts, easier said than done as they're not available anymore. The best solution I could find to match the originals was some Volkswagen driveshaft bolts and getting a family friend to machine them down to size. Happy with the results, you'd need to be dr Anal to notice theyre not the originals...

front pan finished in underseal, I've gone inside the battery boxes and up above them for extra protection -

Sound deadener fitted to the floorpans. This stuff was nice and easy to work with and gave the nearest factory finish I could find. I found something that looked almost perfect it just didn't like being fitted to the contours of the floor so I had to scrap it.

Hopefully its now ready to go off for paint.
Where’s the sound deadening material from? Looks spot on.

Thought I would do my bi-yearly update... My shell is finally nearly ready to get its shiney coat, most of the prep work is now done. The car has been re-epoxied after filler work and primed. My painter is going to use black primer in the luggage compartment to try and replicate the original finish. It seemed like the topcoat was painted straight over the original e-coat in these areas and very little primer made it in there at the factory. He's also going to paint it with wings and doors on.

Cheers, looks like it only comes in a rattle can though. I recon Lechler Technogrip might be a good alternative.

Congratulations on getting to this stage.

There's nothing nicer than a freshly painted shell especially in a cool colour - stunning!

Good luck with the rebuild.
