Porsche "Pepita" (Houndstooth) fabric

Post by visualfx »

In my journey for Porsche trimming perfection I have had a run of “Pepita” (hound’s-tooth) material re-woven in black & white by a Scottish weaver in the UK. Having used most suppliers of hound’s-tooth over time for trimming I’ve found the only makeup of precise pattern and weave was that once produced by Auto Foreign Services.

The process started with an original piece of seat material sent to the weavers for complete breakdown to determine the type and composite thread (wool/nylon), pattern, colour and repeat used by the original manufacture for Porsche. After some weeks an exact reproduction in every detail has been produced.

In addition the material has undergone a “rub test”, this a wear test used for upholstery testing, the result was an outcome of 45,000 :)
Material will arrive with me in the next four weeks and I've only commissioned a limited production run to gauge interest.

A pair of comfort seats will require two meters of fabric along with most other seat applications

Cost is £88 per meter plus shipping

Interested, drop me an email to g.hall@classicfx.net

Very nice Garry. Looks like you found the right place and in Scotland too! I hope it is sold out in no time. Someone who goes the extra mile to get things to this level of accuracy should be supported by Ddk because I know the time you have put in to get things right. I would put in an order myself but I wanted red

All the best,

Regards
Mike

Fantastic job Garry and good for you.........nearly as nice as Dave's recent efforts!

The fabric form Erik does bobble a fair bit but guess the original material did too. Will be interesting to compare when I bring my drivers seat to you.

I think I'd better take some for the future/safe-keeping, please let me know what I'll need for two front seats?......pretty determined to wear my current seats out!

Again.....fantastic work :salute:

Thanks Gents,

The original material had 2% of nylon incorporated into the weave (98% wool being the rest), this gives it the longevity and also stops bobbling Darren 8)

Well done Garry - it's great to have someone in the UK prepared to 'go the extra mile' & invest the time & funds to get such details correct.

Hi Garry
I am on a similar quest to try and get some Red Madras Check for my 1975 911S. Having failed to find any through a variety of stockists/specialists I am going to have to resort to getting some made. Could you please give the details of the people who made yours so I can contact them?
Many thanks
Tom

Hi Garry,

amazing work, I am very interested. Is this the right material for a 1972 911? Are 2 meters of material sufficient for 2 sport seats?

Thank you,
Jan

Hi Jan,

Thanks for your interest

Two meter's is fine for a couple of sports seats and correct for your 72.

I've added you to the list and will be in touch once the material is in stock :)

Best
