Odd!

I take it the difference wasn't trivial?

Hi Shambly,

There's certainly a big difference between the Chesil Heated screen and the Speedster Clinc scuttle and screen frame. I'm sure that Rich will post some pics but there was a notable difference in the curve towards the windscreen edges when he placed it on his body.

If you're interested, I'm happy for a try before you buy fitting to make sure. It seems that you both have screens from different manufacturers so it may fit your frame and scuttle profile.

Same length, same height, same outer edge shape just the curvature was slightly different to mine. Although Chesil don't see it as a problem.

So not much has happened in the last month or so. Mainly down to l have no screen as l dropped mine off at a manufacturer to see if they can copy my screen, but heated. Hope to get a decision this week either way.

Still have the removable posts to finish and sort the sealing arrangement to the screen when I get one!!!

I did manage the other week to rubber coat all the Tenax fasteners. Came out well and make such a difference to grip to pull to release.

Also managed to source and fit these Phenolic gaskets. Had a problem with a hot starting so hope these will cure it.

Also whilst car is of the road, decided to crack on with the steering column and turn signals.pics to come

Cheers Greg, are they ever really finished lol.

Sundsy was spent doing cardboard templates cutting and welding. Outer column needed extending and inner shortened. Bracket in which the column hangs off needed making from scratch also. Now all the metal fab is done need to start fibreglassing dash.

Cheers Mark.

Stripped out n ready

Used a piece of lead to bend around dash to get contour right as none of its flat. This would give me a good starting point??

Image

Cut out and glassed from the back. Now just need to glass from front and feather it out.

Image

With a lick of filler to smooth it out and primed

Image

Having to have some paint (aircraft grey) matched up as its not a RAL colour gel coat.

With the trip to Spa with the DDK possy it gave me a chance to see how the removable door pillars cope in general use.

With a few different seals in my bag to try. Temporary seals fitted to see how well it seals and whether it Keeps the rain out. Well I was surprised no rain came in and we did have some heavy rain whilst driving on the Thursday.

So with the road test done, I'm now happy to finish the inner section of the pillars.

I had the chance to take a close look at Rich's windscreen/door pillar fabrication whilst on the Spa trip & was mightily impressed - excellent engineering solution - including the neat blanking plates for when the pillars are removed.
