Border Reivers Silver 2.4S

Post by IanMcLeod »

Anybody know anything about following car currently advertised at Border Reivers? I did a search and could not find it being discussed. Reply by PM is fine.

looks rather nice including some nice little touches , red key and nudge bar.......however i feel sure I've seen that registration on a 2.7 rs ???????

very reasonably priced 2.2 s on site .........though clearly some non original stuff on it...................perhaps silver car at relatively fair price too then ?

Hi Vic. I believe the car was previously decked out in 2.7RS look with ducktail etc but has been returned to original spec other than the 2.7 engine size it still retains. If so that is probably how you remember it.

I know the car pretty well. It was owned by Jamie Simmington, originally in Dorset, then Ireland. I sold the car for Jamie to a chap from Heathrow, who has restored it to its current condition over several years. Sold to Landmark Cars a couple of months ago, then Nick Faure, now with Border Reivers. VIN is 9113301209

The car was converted to 2.7RS spec by Autofarm back in the late '70's.

James (Symington) was a DDK member - can't remember his username offhand.

Yes I owned this car for 8 years and asked Nick to sell her for me.

I had the engine and gearbox rebuilt by Elkin Robinson (in Derry) who is a well known 911 Rally guy just before I sold her. She had a bit of rust in the window bottoms but was basically sound.

She had incredible acceleration, revved right up there and was really well balanced at speed. I often drove from Derry to Clonakilty in a record times over taking and smiling at will.

Recently I found some more paper work that had fallen out of the original folder so when a new owner buys her I'll forward them on.

This may not make sense to some but I bought her to drive but as values climbed I began to feel more of a custodian.

I have since replaced her with a '71 T which was Bryan Kayne's rebuild seen on Dusty's website. Not as fast but glorious sound and great new project!

Have just spoken at length to the next potential owner, who lives in Scotland.

This is what it looked like 4 years ago

Thanks, I didn't have it in my registry, so no useful help on my side ...
