I'm smitten by it ... looking forward to european touring , early morning blasts into the dales etc

I did set out to purchase a daily driver , but reality is for daily family duties etc we have a normal car that munches the miles & will do the real bad weather. When my wife is out in that car I'll use either the 964, the CSL or the landy. If I need the family car for work then Jo will use the 964 ( she doesnt like the CSL , either to drive or to passenger ! ). The CSL is the car I'll probo be using more as I can use it for work without looking flash & it's just one of the practical fun cars I've had.

Regarding travelling to europe, the prices over there are comparable & in a lot of cases higher than here. I went to europe because there just aren't the cars over here anymore & I wanted LHD . I also had convinced myself the quality of cars might be better ... having looked at cars in the dusseldorf 'museum' that isnt the case ... its still a matter of searching out the good ones ( they are over 20 years old and can show it ) . I spent a lot of time searching and this one jumped out at me ... I went on gut feel when I saw it so didnt' bother with an inspection etc

Lets just hope the UK registration process isnt' too slow ... still waiting for a V55/5 form to come through from teh DVLA and for Porsche to produce a COA for me

... forgot to mention , in a very bizarre way , on the trip back from dusseldorf we were listening to various radio station through Germany & Holland & no word of a lie , but every song that came on was period appropriate for the car ! TBH, I was starting to get a bit tired of Phil Collins etc by the time we arrived at Rotterdam

also , I need to than Chris Jury & Bert who were both helped with answers to questions of mine usually relating to Europeans ways of doing things

Nice car James

Daily driver- think you all know where I stand on that. Perhaps it's worth confirming the pros and cons in a calm, rational logical way

Downsides-
- will speed up corrosion (but you can protect against it to some extent)

Upsides-
- chance for fun drive every day
- doing what it was built for
- keeps the seals, rubbers etc supple as they are constantly being used
- you really get to know your car
- each commute can turn into something special
- your driving skills improve
- admiring glances from other road users
- practice your heel and toeing every day
- women want you
- men want to be you
- live your life every day instead of planning to live it at the weekend

Am going there to see my son in a couple of weeks and would love to visit.

Nothing needs doing really... The only things I've identified is a slightly notchy throttle pedal / cable ... Probo a legacy of only 1000 miles per annum and poss lub the clutch pedal. I'll get it fully serviced , tappets , plugs etc at some point in the coming months
