HI Mike was 302629 RHD by any chance? Its in the correct range of numbers that could have been, but I have no details either way. The other two cars I have no details of either.
Sorry - I was talking rubbish AGAIN - the car I owned was 302 620 (NOT 9)

Yes - 302 620 was RHD
Original Motor 902 692
Original G`box - 223 477
Gulf Blue / Black Vinyl - (6603 B)
Original Registration LJJ 12D changed at some point to VRW 10 and then back to FMJ 250D (by me)
Commencement of Guarantee - 8/10/65

Engine and Gearbox had been changed prior to my ownership and colour to Royal Blue
I sold it for Track use and retained the VRW 10 which is on my everyday hack

Looking at the paperwork I had - it looks as if I sold it with its original Motor & Transmission, which I had bought separately from the car

Hope that this is helpful

Mike
Thanks Mike useful info - database updated.

Another RHD car has made itself known to us - see details below - I'll add to the database.

From Tim in Australia

I have one to add to your list.... my project 66 911 VIN 303661 factory RHD. UK delivered to AFN but with me in Brisbane Australia, as I took it with me when I moved home 4 yrs ago.
I can send you Kardex/COA if that helps, but its a matching numbers 911 built in 03/66. engine no: 903 793 trans: 228304. Bahama Yellow. On original Solexes Needs restoration which I'm hoping to commence later this year. Has an old Webasto sunroof fitted which I'll probably replace with a solid roof shell as it's not documented on kardex/dealer info. I was told AFN had a fire which destroyed records at the dealership which may have noted this fact. Haven't got many worthwhile pics as yet but can provide once things get moving.... Any questions just give me a shout. Tim

I'd be very interested to know if Mike has any other pics of the polo red car behind Lyvie in this shot.
It also appears alongside Lyvie in the previous series of photos posted.

It looks to be swb, on 6 inch Fuchs, 68 door handles, possibly a tan back shelf, maybe a sunroof, gold engine lid letters, opening quarter lights, black backed rear view mirror, Rhd, leather steering wheel, polo red, 68 side trims, possibly 67 engine grille, black wiper arms, no ariel, no side mirror,
could be a well known car......

Mike

I am still confused about windscreen wiper parking. Looking at the picture there is variation. Was this variation due to Porsche production or personal choice. I understand the reasons for both layouts but .... is there a definitive answer?

Details and COA added to the database I now know the original registration to be LYL 2D.

This brings the total of RHD MY65/66 cars to 23.

Hi Ian,

(I got your email by the way, yes I'll get it to you)

It's as I wrote on the previous page:
LGK6D wrote:The wipers always park on the passenger side regardless of driver position, it's so the wipers didn't obscure the drivers view. They then realised that water runs up the bonnet over the scuttle and up the windscreen on the drivers side, but not on the side in which they were parked, hence the swap. I believe that happened at the end of the 67MY, someone else may be able to confirm.

If it's not consistent it usually means a detail missed following the LHD/RHD conversion.

I just worked my way through twenty eight 911/912 Road Tests dated between 1964-1971 and it looks as though the change of wiper park coincides with the introduction of the LWB cars.
The earliest example I found was a RHD German-registered 911E Sporto (with an oval-plate on it, 428 Z 4844) tested by Autocar and dated 31 October 1968. Interesting that it should be right hand drive - and no door mirror fitted?

So David you were right. They changed post July 1967 though I guess a few cars may have been deliberately changed in subsequent years to suit their owner or 'modernise' the car - or in error during rebuild.

Sorry Robin, these cars aren't even applicable to your site. I'll go away now.

Eve, the earliest lwb car and a Versuch model, built 28/06/1968 has wipers parked on the passenger side.

New to this forum.
My name is John Orchard; from Melbourne, Australia.
I was looking through this forum several days ago, and came across this thread which In part made reference to my 1965 911, Chassis 302030. The car was an AFN delivery to the UK. Thought to be the ninth factory right hand drive 911 brought into the UK. Completed by Porsche on 30.7.65 . AFN import shows 15/8/65 delivery, with the first owner being E.S. Eaton with the Registration ECL44C. Colour is 6602 Polo red with pepita interior.
I have owned the car since 2010. Matching numbers; Motor 902131 Gearbox 2062-901/0.
Any questions.... Please ask.

Regards,
John

Firstly, welcome to the DDK forum, and thanks for posting some further information on your car. Some more photos of your car would be great esp any period ones you may have?

Also be sure to let us know if any other early RHD 911's pop up in Australia

Hi Do we know if this car is a genuine RHD? The description would indicate that it was originally supplied to a customer in Belgium therefore likely to have been LHD. Will add to database either as RHD or a known conversion from L to R.

https://drive-my.com/en/social/stream/item/4923.html

Help would be appreciated.

A long term lurker, and watched this thread grow with interest. Why you may ask, well the magazine scan from below of MMU911C and FUW2C back in 1988 may answer that question.

I'm in the passenger seat of FUW2C, scary to think that was nearly 30 years ago. Even more so it must be 36 years since we went to look at it in a small rural garage in Norfolk.

When I get some time I'll get some more up to date pictures.
