Hi Olly,
yes it was mine. It was a couple of years ago or was it 3?? at the Classic Car Show at the NEC. Also ended up driving it up onto the live stage of Wheeler Dealers that year to.
You must of been watching Car SOS series 3 episode 5 I think with as you say the Nissan Skyline.?

Re: 914 engine core, strip and rebuild
Hi all, progress has been slow of late. No time. Managed to get into the garage over the break though. A pics showing progress.
All bits back from powder coaters and fitted
Newly fabbed engine bay.
A new jack purchased to install engine rather than trying to balance on the end of the jack. Complete engine just sits on it and it's has wheels to manoeuvre it in place. Made life so easy installing the engine.
Back were it belongs
With all this dry sump stuff being new to me, just need to get a custom dry sump tank made. Then l can get it fired up

Do you need baffles and stuff in that rich? I know that on Impact Bumpers Teaboy made his own (IIRC he's still making it!) and put a lot of work into where the pickup was and baffles and suchlike. All well above my pay grade. But maybe worth looking at if you haven't already got it covered - may be overkill

The simple things you see are all complicated
I look pretty young but I'm just backdated yeah

I like the idea of making a full 3D pattern before going to fabrication. The panel work in the engine bay looks very professional, are you going to leave it all mill finish aluminium or go for a powder coat?

Hi Mark it will need baffles, I'm leaving the internals for Bob & Clare at Concept to figure out. Bit more to it me thinks with the shape of the tank. Had a quick look at Teaboys tank. A lot of mods going into the tank to get it to fit. Top job.
Greg, by me doing the legwork (3D model) it has saved me having to trailer the car to Concept Racing and saved me a few £££'s. A lot of hours went into it to tick boxes etc. Plus, if I'm honest, l really enjoyed doing it. Need to get out more.
Model is now with Bob and Clare so let's see what comes back.

Re: 914 engine core, strip and rebuild
Whilst I'm waiting for the tank, I've made my own transmission mid mount out of aluminium. Very similar to the GB mount in steel. Just need to get it welded up now.
Also been working on getting more air into the engine bay directed at the carbs. Alittle more fettling and they're ready to fit.

Re: 914 engine core, strip and rebuild
Hi,
Couple of questions......
1. Are you adding cooling to the engine compartment because you have had overheating problems with the type 4 engine or is it precautionary?
2. Are you fitting filters to the louvres to stop crud getting into the engine bay from the inside of the wheel arches?

Re: 914 engine core, strip and rebuild
Hi Rob
Never had a cooling problem with the DTM. Only reason for having the Louvres really is to get some clean air directed at the carbs, not for cooling. Not going to put any mesh on other side as the they are not in direct spray of the wheels. If it is a problem it will be any easy fix either way.

Thanks.
Bracket back from welding.
Just need to weld the tabs to the chassis and it's J.D. for the bracket.
