Bit of DDK therapy needed
must be one of those days as I've woken up thinking I should sell all my cars & start afresh
so, thought this might make an interesting discussion ....
As much as I love my car , I also love hotrods / modified cars ...... the other day I was sat looking at mine thinking how cool it would be with a set of RS rear arches + 7&8" fuchs
Realistically I know these days I can't do that to an original 2.4S what with the values they are at etc
So, purely hyperthetically .......... if was to sell my car , are there actually any DECENT cars out there , either already modded or ripe for small tweeks .
Jason & Russ's cars are great examples of the kind of thing I like, fast, light b road blasters that can still be run on a european tour ... problem is , my car is pretty much my perfect early Porsche ( ignoring my RS rear arches thoughts ) that has developed over 11 years into a really quick fun car that I've still yet to drive a more involving car on my local roads , but one that the wife is still happy to spend hours in touring too . Would I just end up spending a shite load of cash to replicate this but ending up with an over priced bitza ?

Re: thoughts ...
Are you in a position to buy another car to customise whilst hanging on to the S ? Then decide at a later date which car you prefer / get the most enjoyment from.
Re: thoughts ...
Pull yourself together man... take it from me, a week after selling you'll be plotting ways to buy it back again

I think you are on the money James
Sell the S. It may go up more but you'd presumably crystallise a nice profit. And then you are into your next car for free
Take half the proceeds and build your ideal hotrod. Infinitely more satisfying having something bespoke that will outperform an RS
What is wrong with Ant's rep for that money as a starting point??

[heresymode] Would welding RS arches to your car be the end of the world ? [/heresymode]
You get the look you want, you get to keep your car and should you ever feel the need, Lee Peacock will make it look like it never ever happened.
Face it, you're not going to sell that car, not after everything you two have been through together.
Mike.

Re: thoughts ...
I'd sell and start experiencing some different classic metal, the market is buoyant enough for you to not loose any money provided don't buy bad.
Just think of all the classics you are missing out on because you are hanging on to it. I haven't a clue what it's worth but lets start at £150k, just how many varied and exciting cars can you tick off the list and experience with that?!?!
Countless Alfas, Lancias, etc
Hotrods of almost any kind
De Tomaso Panteras?
Morgan
Ferrari
E Types
etc, etc, etc, it's endless
Buy one, keep it a year or build a collection

Re: thoughts ...
Can you see the rear arches when you're driving?
Cashing in and buying something a third of the price but just as much fun is tempting I guess.
Although good early car hot rods are not exactly cheap these days...
But you won't sell, you're as bad as me.

Life is short, do what you want to do and hang the consequences!
That red car that Williams Crawford had looked spot on to me - not much money, loads of fun and do what you want to it.
My tatty old 66 911 is likely to remain tatty...not only because of limitation of funds, but also because I can have fun with it, chop and change, buy this and that for it and it doesnt matter value-wise.
Despite his dodgy accent and manky clothes I do think Magnus Walker's approach to some of his cars is a recipe for a happy driving life (obviously he also has a bunch of lovely original stuff as well now....lucky b&gger).
And the graffiti 911 has huge appeal to me as well.....another example of do what you like and enjoy it.
I wonder how much that 1965 green project 911 that Historika currently have is.....
