What is this car and engine?

The car is a Lotus 35 and the engine is a Martin 3 litre V8, both built by a good friend of mine over 5 years. The engine had to be completely re-engineered to make it work properly and was designed as an F1 motor by Ted Martin in the early 1960's, several years before the Cosworth DFV. It uses single overhead cams with rockers and was also the first to use belt driven cams. Power wise it is around 290BHP so when the DFV, with its 450BHP, did arrive that was that.

Yes its great isn't it. Am amazing amount of work went into it. The main problem now is where to run it as there is no race series for early 3 litre F1 cars, only for the slicks and wings later versions.

Most of its class mates were hillclimb cars.
