Members Motorcycles

H - I'm pretty sure that while DDK is not a forum for bikers that there are many bikers in our ranks - possibly? Certainly the lure of speed associated with bikes and Porsche is not dissimilar. Anyways - I just bought a new toy and thought I'd show it off... so there...! Keen to see what other bikes are lurking in other members garages or in weekly use.

I'll post this again. It's my two wheeler; a 2011 BMW R1200GS Adventure, my second GS after getting back into bikes around 5 years ago. This one is the full Ewan with high suspension, spoked wheels, big screen and big alloy panniers. I bought it mainly for the screen as I was getting buffeting from the regular GS's one. It has the last-of-the-air-cooled-Boxers DOHC 115bhp engine which for a ditch-pumper is a nice lump. Funnily enough, put three of them together and you'd end up with a 3.6litre air-cooled flat 6 like my 964.

The width and height helps the road presence, and traction control, ABS, heated grips, and sat nav are welcome for an old biker like me. It gets used for business commuting, general one-up running around and touring, but its also huge fun and hustles nicely for a 250kg beast. I did have to change the concrete BMW seat for a Sergeant job though.

This is from a few years ago. I still have the bandit but the beetle and sadly sadly the power valve are gone.

Some nice machinery on show here, but why am I not surprised that DDKers have fine taste in motorcycles as well as cars?

This is my Ducati 750ss, owned since '98, its been a road bike, London commuter, race bike, and still gets the occasional track day. Like all old racers, it keeps on getting quicker.

Current spec has it fitted with a 900ss motor, JE pistons, and bigger valves, fed by Keihin FCR41 pumper carbs. Last time on the dyno it was doing 89 BHP at the rear wheel. Too many chassis mods to mention here, but the next job is to fit a pair of 916 forks.

Yes .... and even one from Norn Iron !!

See my post in general chat , about buying my 1967 Guzzi in the States ... I'm just back from a 3000 miles road trip on it (Seattle to San Fransisco and back via the wee roads). Quite different from my day to day R1200RT ... but in a nice way.

now .... time to get back to that rally car...........
Royal Enfield .. still in India
GL 1800 Tour DCT, for pleasure / Fantic 240 Professional - play
Rally 911 (1966) build parked for a while
Rally 928 (work started again - inc serious weight loss programe !)
.... and now another VW Up GTI owner.

i am currently without bike annoyingly. Last one was a Dorsoduro 1200. Before that I had 3 KTMs... a 690 SM, a 950 SM and then a 690 SMR.. I love those KTM singles...just superb

If any one you havent seen it yet google the new Ariel motorbike. I had a good look at Goodwood and it looked tremendous. especially the front "girder" suspension version. major want ...just one small problem... £20k is a LOT !

Kneeslider, that 750SS is lovely!

Here's mine, a 1998 Ducati 916 SPS. I have had lots of different bikes over the years, but this one will stay with me forever.

Image

I don't ride it much on the road, just the odd trackday. These two were shots were taken at Portimao in 2012, hoping to get back there this year.
