For the love of cars

Post by hot66 »

Surprised no one has mentioned this program yet .... Started with the mk1 escort Mexico . Thought it's was a superb bit of TV, good mix of the history, the culture and restoration.

Great program, would have liked to have seen a bit more of the restoration, but really good to see all those mk1 Escorts. Land Rover next week.

Just caught up with this tonight on 4OD - really enjoyed it - better than a lot of these type of tv programmes - no real drama about the false deadline they give etc. and a sensible resto carried out on a great car....

Yes I really enjoyed it as well. I like Phillip glennis(?) - he'd got his own ideas but wasn't too cocky to be swayed by better advice. Mk1 escort was my first car as well and the guy I bought it from took me for a ride in his Mexico, so the program meant a lot to me

I was surprised it wasn't mentioned on the night too. It's a whole lot better than the channel 5 dross but still wasn't that good on the restoration side of things. Did they really change most of the front end and only check alignment by the bonnet fit? Are there no mk1 essie attachments for body jigs?
Still enjoyed it though.

I enjoyed it too, he comes across as an enthusiast.
I thought the same about aligning the front end by tape measure only

I live just round the corner from where the café is where they all met up and did donuts outside. 25 years ago used to see the Mk1 Escort boys hanging out on the Sutton one-way system laughing at us in our Beetles. The Harris brothers - former banger racers and known for a few things locally!

I did enjoy the program though.

I enjoyed it too. Glad to have more Brit flavour, some of the American stuff is dreadful (Chasing Cars - he sounds like the humans used to in Charlie Brown cartoons. and what do they actually do to the cars?). Fast'n'Loud seems good though.

Fast and Loud is the best of them all, Chasing cars then Counting cars.
Few of these programs get into detail of restoration as it has no general audience, just an interest to us geeks.

Wed, 9.00pm, we always sit at the TV for Fast n Loud. I even come in from the garage for it!

The reason I didn't mention it was to avoid the smart Alec ' Didn't you see this thread or that thread
that has already mentioned it ' brigade who seem to think members spend there whole life inspecting
every thread ever started on DDK.
But yes, an excellent programme with another 5 British classics to go.

decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good "..

Thanks for mentioning For the Love of Cars, had missed it but watched it on 4OD. Really enjoyed it.

But now I want a Ford Mexico lol!

See they sold it at auction for about 23k.

BUT....

I downloaded all series 1 of Fast and Loud on Sky On Demand and am addicted!! It's excellent! Great entertainment, love it. If you've not watched it then you need to :)
