Engine Oil Temperature Gauge

Does anybody know how to get my gauge repaired? Mine shows permanently max temp.

Does the needle start off cold ? Is it at cold when the ignition is off ? It could also be the sender unit, rather than the Gauge.

Worse comes to the worse, I think Canford Classics offer a gauge rebuild service....and I always hear good things about these guys:

Hi

The gauge is always on hot i.e. Over to right on red.

Have you tried measuring the volts going to the gauge when the engine is off/cold v warmed up? Just incase you get back a nicely rebuilt gauge and you have another problem?

Maybe a daft solution but have you tried tapping the glass? My 914 temp gauge was sticking at the max mark and sharp tap brought it back down to zero...

My temp gauge legs it to hot hot hot when I turn ignition on. I am going to try a tap !!!
