Classic LeMans update

Post by hot66 »

Just a reminder for those who have not booked yet that some deadlines are approaching.

Track Laps .. we have 9 ddker's booked so far & still have 6 further places available. We will have to close the book on these very soon.

Infield Parking ..... still spaces available. This will be our own DDK area so it will be nice to get a selection of cars parked here on both days. I'm planning on parking my car here on either the Sat or Sun. Do we have any DDK banners ?

Currently we have 65 DDK'ers booked for entrance & camping . There are camping plots and tickets etc still available, but we will need to finalise numbers with the organisers

All details of how to book are in the members section

If you are not yet a member, either pm me for more details on how to book or pm bootsy for access to the members section

We do have banners somewhere! Not sure where they ended up. Anyone?

This is what we're looking for (they don't currently reside with me).

I think Helen has those?

However I was thinking of the vinyl ones we used to stake to the floor

They used to get posted around and no idea where they ended up.

those are bit too fancy to be left all day by the cars ... as Thomas says, we used to have a basic DDK banner that could be pegged out ... don't want it to look too much like a club stand as thats not what we're about  .. just wanted to differentiate us from all the 'official' Porsche clubs ;)

Can't help with the where abouts of the banners I'm afraid.

I would like advice on the track laps though as this is something I would like to do.

I guess these are pre race so are our cars checked over (guess who's unsure on the spelling of scrutineered) before we're aloud on? My car very noticeably drops oil. I don't want to book laps then be turned away in shame.

Also the term parade laps suggests a polite amble around the track. Is it more likely balls out stig wannabe's? I'd try my best to keep up but it's an old car and I'm a little bit "driving miss daisy"

Thank you
Mick

Never seen any checks done before. You can drive at whatever pace you want really.

There's no checking, no instruction, no nothing!........just an all out free for all!

A fair few Miss Daisy's who pootle around on the inside and a few nutters in GT3's and the like....up to you how you go!

I hit 140MPH down the Mulsanne Straight leaving the braking a little late on one occasion! .....

.....absolutely great fun! :P

I'd recommend taking someone with you Mick to keep an eye out for traffic - there is a wide variety of skills and speed on the track. A fair number tend to pull in to the side after a bit and wait a while for a clear track so they can give it some beans, so you always have some people coming up on you from behind at speed.

As Thomas says, no checking as far as I'm aware

It's good fun - something to experience at least once. I took Jason's car round on the understanding that I wouldn't hit 250. I agreed to this because I thought he meant MPH and no way would it do that. Apparently he meant KPH. Oops.
