Today I decided to change the gearbox oil. On the way I noticed a leak from the rocker covers. I took off. The gasket looked ok so I straightened and for the first time ever put a bit of sealant on. Didn't put much on and it keep the gasket in place.

Unfortunately I ran out of gearbox oil mid change. Quick trip to halfords. They were kind enough to renew my trade card.

After the oil change I adjusted the clutch cable. As it was a bit low on the pedal when engaging. First time I've touched it in 10 years of ownership

Speaking of 964s, started the strip down of mine to replace the crank position sensor after the embarrassment of my breakdown at Steve Kevlin’s funeral. I also got together a parts list of all the breather pipes to hopefully cure a very odd oil leak that has been plaguing me for a while on top of the engine where there are very few places for oil to find it’s way out.

Will update my thread when I get to it

Sold my 993 Targa today.
End of 11 years of ownership.
Now what next?
Do not like selling cars as there are too many deranged and or idiots out there.

I had a visitor the other week who was interested in seeing the 912 - 'starts like a dream' I said as it failed to turn over. :(
I found that my Bosch S4021 battery had failed whilst on my CTEK charger. I was a bit disappointed it had died until I read the date code and found it was manufactured April 2013 - so 9 years service is pretty good.

Today I fit the replacement Varta B32 ( identical to a Bosch S4021 ).
Hopefully this one will make it to a full decades service ;)
Here's to August 2032 !

Next stage of the 356 preparation. It's been a busy weekend of trying to repair a bearing on our family car. Which involved me having to take the 356 to Hinckley on early Sunday morning. Thankfully goodness it's running better than the family car. It did run quite hot up the A5 but I wasn't messing around.

About 2pm I finally got to the 356. Firstly I put some oil in the steering box. It's only had grease all the time I've owned it. Not much oil went in. Which I guess is a good sign. I noticed that I hadn't returned the screws onto the inspection panel. Anyone know what m and length they are?

Next I set the tyres pressures. 24.2/28.4. I was aiming for 24/28.5 but was more concerned about left right balance. Took the car out and it felt better but steer since too heavy. I think a call, Saturday trip, to Greatworth might be in order.

Next, after a neighbour gave me their old grease gun, I did a few of the grease nipples but too many hours had been wasted under a car so the reat will wait to another day.

Next I noticed the knob and bolt for the rear passenger window was missing so I replaces with a bolt.

Next I checked what style bulb connectors for the headlights,I have, as I think I'm going led for the trip.

Is that a sealed beam unit, or just very out of focus???

If it looks like this at the back then its a sealed beam, and it is a complete unit, you can not change the bulb, just the whole unit with the electrodes ‘sealed’ in.

You can get other 7” units to take normal or LED bulbs, and adopt the wiring, but think as you are going away soon, you will get yourself into a can of worms.

Today I’m mainly driving back up North from Paris. Luckily it’s a bit cooler going this way!

I think I've changed the bulb before but that is a very good point. I will check Thank you. What do you do if your headlights go on a trip. Bit of a pain to carry a new headlight

Tried to take 3rd in Class last weekend at Shelsley Walsh, failed by 0.23 sec.
This is not the right line into Bottom Esses as some on here will know....
Got tricky about 3 seconds later!

That in rallying terms is a 'cut'. Not what you want when hillclimbing
Did it rattle your teeth??
