Had my first drive of the year - couldn’t believe what poor state the roads are in parts around Tunbridge Wells - felt like we on a rally stage at times….

Went to a sort-of air-cooled event at C&M with Angus and family and Alastair Cauldwell in his 914/6 GT ‘Touring’, Angus driving his 356 Speedster and me in my S. Far too much ‘Max Power’ nonsense and modern supercar stuff for my tastes and friggin’ freezing too!

Went to C&M Sat and enjoyed a nice breakfast. Good drive, sun, good tunes. Bliss.

Pretty shocking aren't they. Gets worse the further south you head.

First drive in the 912e in 3 months and went well. This photo is inside their workshop.

In addition to the stock one? Yes, probably. But also rerouting the Accusump lines.

Dry afternoon so took the old 73T out for the first time since late October.

Had started the car about early January, but other than that no action on the car.
Tyres were at 26/30 so pumped up to the usual 28/32.
Told it that it looked lovely as ever and turned the key.
Vrrruoom and settled to 800 rpm in about 20 seconds.
Oddly, no blue smoke as is often the case after the Long Sleep (just a whisper, that's all).

Checked it all works, and off down and around the local dual carriage ways, B roads and village high street etc, nowhere to park, so no pics.

I don't have James's 'gods-country' to drive across with the views.

Back and check the oil level, mid way between min/max so just right.

Noticed the date on the fuel filter (it is a 3.2 engine) is March 2021, so that will need a change I guess.

What a nice car this is, so docile, so strong and a supple ride thrown in, even turned a few heads along the way and a shout from a small group of Yuffs too.

Off to a PCGB run in a few weeks hopefully with a DDK and long standing friend FCD.

The car that owes me nothing...

First hillclimb coming up in 8 days time, so decided to express some TLC on the LOLA.

Really simple, body off, 3 mins, fuel in, 3 mins, check battery, 30 secs, start it, 30 secs.

Ran a dream, so left it ticking over until hot with a few blips between. Not anti social as the cul-de-sac were out to work.
Tick over steady at 2000 rpm, my preferred speed so I can trick around the paddock just slipping the clutch.

Body back on, wash n wax for the year.

Got an email from Prescott hill saying the 20/21 April meeting is cancelled until August due to water logged paddock and trailer field....

Packed the 356 for our next road trip. After driving back in an awful rain storm from Buxton last night (not in the 355) here is hoping the trip will be like the canal boat we passed on our morning walkImageImage
