Well, my aircon pipe, condensor, desicater replacement was tested when I had the aircon filled on project Tiptronic. Minis 2.4 degrees at the vents is a success, and I am told that working climate on an early 986/996 is a rare thing.

With no more access required to the aircon pump and engine I started putting it back together, and the 2nd hand navy roof looks great and after 10 years folded it just needs a bit of time to stretch into shape.

This weekend I have small projects for all 3 cars

Went to pick up the car and it decided not to start. This is after starting on the dot recently. The chap was working on it came out and helped. He gave the carbs a good clean. We got it started but stopped 10 mins later. I suspect the coil. I have a spare one at home but ... Waiting for the RAC. This means no French Hill climb unless there is a miracle

A very small positive is the led headlights are very good.

Bogus!

Could you take the 914?

Attended a friend's funeral - part of a 40-car escort to the crematorium. Sad day remembering a lovely guy, taken too soon at 55 when his 1949 Beetle was rear-ended by an old guy in his S-Max on its way back from Stanford Hall last Bank Holiday. :(

Image

The accident happened at 11.40pm on the A30 – no witnesses but guessing the S-Max driver didn't see the '49 Beetle's tiny taillights, or expect to find a car travelling at 50mph on a dual carriageway.

Reasonable summary about the lights and speed.

The recent run to The Motorist the other week in broad daylight, I was following Sladey's 911.
His auxiliary brake light was really effective and stood out in the hard sunlight, must be really clear at night.

'Modernising' classics can be very beneficial at times.
LED lights for normal running more so?

Yes maybe but we are leaving Wednesday so all a bit tight. I didn't get home until 3pm this morning and the car arrived at 6am. RAC are useless. 8 hours to recover the car. It was one of the worst nights of my life. I want to be 100% sure that we don't get stuck on the side of the road

My fingers and spanners are crossed for you Neil!

Meanwhile, in the garage the usual pre-MoT clean got underway, all the 4 corners exposed and cleaned, and cleaned, and then more. WD40 makes it all shine again. Found everything as it should be, even the wheel bearings are right.

MoT is on Tuesday next week, been taking it to the same country garage since 1990 but it always gets a real going over which is good.
Usually get a verbal comment about the horn being a polite Beep and not a rude GRRRRRR!

Found the right place to put the tow eye on the rear of a 914. M10. Actually the size of the bolts that came with the tow straps Image
