'89 300E

Post by rvzz »

As the Missus has lost interest in driving her 996 and taken to using my Vogue most of the time I've been on the look out for something for the short ( 8 mile round trip ) commute to work .
After a couple of hours on Ebay I realized that you can get an awful lot of car for a grand if your willing to take a chance especially in the old 'luxo barge ' category .
So , After a few days browsing and dismissing Jags , 15 year old S class Mercs , big Saab's etc I found this .....

It's a '89 300E . 3 owners from new . The last one for 22 years . taxed and mot till June .
The car was traded in at a main dealer by the son of the last owner who hardly used the car much in the last 5 years .
Lovely old bus that's properly screwed together . I've had the coupe and the convertible version of the W124 a few years ago and this is as good as I remember them . Only cost me £180 to insure on a classic policy as well :) .

Looks like a great find, that kind of history must be rare...

One of those cars that really looks solid, let alone the fact they were built to last.

Will be interesting to hear how it works out, running costs etc. Enjoy using it!

I learnt to drive in a 280SE similar to the one above Darren. They were built and were such a smooth car to drive

I recently purchased this C180 - 60k miles & full history for just over £1k. Ok it's red and a manual but it's like a new car inside and so smooth to drive.
