Hi,
Any thoughts on whether it's worth spending almost twice the price on a set of Michelin XAS 165HR15 tyres rather than the Michelin XYZ 165SR15 for my 59a - is the difference really worth the extra dosh ?
Thx
Martin

Err no…
Do you mean XZX?
Maybe buy some Vredestein Sprint Classics, a modern tyre that looks like a classic, that's what I have on my car.

Or even continental CT22's - I run these on my replica in 165/80 size.

Hence mentioning the CT22s, where all 4 cost me £200 fitted a few years ago. Still only £66 a corner fitted...

I have the Michelin XAS tyres, they were on the car when I bought it. The previous owner said they had transformed the car, though I don`t know what he had on there before.
Regards, Mike.

I thought the XAS uses a sporty compound and that make a big difference. It is also available in a 'FF' version using the cup compound.

Longstone certainly speak highly of them see:

Now the XASs on the 356.

Ok, so that was Hayley driving

but the 356 was totally unflustered by anything the Porsche test track could throw at it. Those tyres laughed in the face of the kickplate and ice hill. Ho ho ho.
Regards, Mike.
Edited to add this, not seen it for a while.

Firestone F 560 tyres I bought for my 356 around 6 years ago have worked really well and they look very good on the car as well. They are also reasonable in price.
