Very nice. Think some back-story is needed!

All this has made me think back to what I used to have... First Beemer was the R90S (not a bad way to start!), followed by R60/6, R75/5, R100S, R1100RT and the 'borrowed' R80GS. Also had use of a R65 (was on the press launch of that), and variously rode numerous R110RS, K100, K75 and R1100GS press bikes. All seems like a long time ago (which, on the whole, it was...). (Mostly) Happy days - apart from dumping the K100 on the Six Bells roundabout at Farnham, two-up the day after I'd collected it from BMW in Bracknell...

Keith, I can relate to that. The day I passed ny driving test my father lent me his metallic gold Hillman Hunter for a night out with my girl. I managed to spin the car driving rather too quickly around the Six Bells roundabout.
Fortunately the car hit nothing and survived unscathed (my Dad never knew). I grew up fast that evening.

I had my wife (now ex-, but that's unrelated!) on the back - we were just on our way back home from the jazz club at the Maltings one damp evening. Set the bike up to do the left-right-left flick round the roundabout, cranked open the throttle as I was about to exit, eyes looking up the road when suddenly the back end went away from me. I slid next to the bike (still holding onto the bars...) while my wife went rolly-polly down the road. It all happened in front of an off-duty AA patrolman, who wandered over brandishing a length of steel pipe, about an inch in diameter. 'Saw what happened. You missed this with the front wheel but caught it with the back. Wondered when somebody was going to hit that.'

Tsk, tsk... you young tearaways! Happy days.

KS got any of your old scribblings, err.. incisive road tests, on those bikes over the years?

Very nice Mike but I'm not sure that rear arch profile is quite right?

Yep, I like that Dan & very fashionable right now.. when there are articles about bespoke €35,000 cafe racers in the the FT, you know it's gone beyond the self build outlaw.

Like those US bikes KS, not sure if that's a silencer or pencil sharpener on the red?

have just spent my lunchtime on kevils website and flickr site

they are v nice indeed

any ideas on costs Mitch?

i'd like this one but in a different colour..maybe Porsche slate grey in fact!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/55135389@N ... otostream/

i always liked the Metisse desert racer and then I happened to see "Worlds Greatest motorbike journeys" on tv the other week, S Arrica episode, and the bike literally fell apart! shocking for a £25k ish from memory

what I really want is a current model KTM 690 with ABS etc and then someone to bespoke it for me and make it look retro!

all ideas gratefully rcd
