Porsche Mayfair RSR Recreation

I was in Mayfair earlier today and popped into the Porsche Centre to take a look

Some nice touches eg the brakes and cage, some a but naff I thought eg piped seats, and some plain daft eg 4pt harnesses but seats without upper harness slots

Thing is about 100x more interesting than anything else in there though!

What say DDK?

Neil had to come to the aid of Porsche Reading. This was their restoration car, and was at Silverstone the other day. IMHO this was not one of the best efforts there. Whoever produced the little card translated RS to RSR

I have to agree. While I like the idea of a semi-officially sanctioned hotrod this looks like the sort of 1/2 arsed RS rep that was being done a decade ago. I really think that if the OPC had done some proper research or even asked here, they'd have discovered the game has really moved on.

Some details I like but the green on green dash is a shocker, and the yellow/white plates…..

in the flesh it looks even worse ...its neither fish nor foul, does nt know what its meant to be , even the green confuses it !
No apologies of all the cars shown at Silverstone that was plain nasty!

On the plate front, it's a '77 backdate so would have to run white and yellow plates.

It would look a lot better with black and white plates and also, IMO, period look Fuchs (unpainted).

Oh and chrome window trims, please!

6 speed box and a 3.6l engine. Probably quick enough to not worry about the cosmetics...

Probably far too quick for it.

It looks just wrong to me, not one thing or another?

It swings both ways - bit like you Jason after that Regazonni quote on the Ferrari thread.

worth remembering though that Dario Franchitti has something similar (993 powered RS rep) and raves on about it, and he should probably know

but yes overall, nothing special at all about this and agree with Nick, the RSR bit was a mistype

also agree re wheels, seats, lack of chrome, and green dash

fix all of that and it would be a weapon

no price on it... but it added some welcome colour to a monachrome showroom

I rented a new boxster S in the summer in Provence and that was spectacularly good as it howled to 9000 red line... if I was in the market for new Pork I honestly cant see why you need to go higher up the range unless back seats required

Saw it on Regent Street on Saturday.
It was part or the 50 years of the 'Porsche 911 evolution display' at the 'Regent Street Motor Show'.

This thing was representing the early end of the 911 evolution!
Very disappointing, not a real early production 911 in sight!

Just up the street a bit, the 'Aston Martin Centenary Celebration display' was superb!

Car was built by Porsche Reading I believe

Engine is a zero mile 3.6 993 engine they had 'left over'

The seats don't look right
