Workshop rebuild part 1

Post by myatt1972 »

As most of you know about three years ago I was fortunate enough to buy a 73 911E and a 73 914, at the time I also had a 1st gen Mazda Rx7, my trusty Volvo and the Mrs's daily hack. To house the fleet involved renting a couple of lock-ups with no light or power so any maintenance work let alone restorations was a struggle. It was obvious that a house move was the answer and two years ago we moved to Rosebank farm, not a farm anymore but it did still have the outbuildings even if they were in poor condition.
The main outbuilding was 100' long and 30' wide but almost falling down, on the up side it did have three phase electricity connected.

One half of the building was almost watertight but the other half was toast !

Demolition was fairly straightforward as it had started by itself.

So with a bit of help.

And then the clean up.

love a good garage thread myself .... but for car security reasons, you might want to crop that 1st photo so where you live is a little bit less identifiable :)

Excellent stuff. I'll stop moaning about the effort to do the floor in my garage after seeing that!

After cutting up all the timber ( I do love my wood burner ) we started the blockwork, luckily I have a mate who is a brick layer, he managed to give me a square and level starting point.

The tractors were owned by the bloke who was there before us, they were all sold before we moved in, I did find a campervan in flatpack form buried under a huge pile of cow sh*t though

Once the blockwork was in place I could start making the timber frames for the sides, paslode nail guns are wonderful things.
