Any 356s at the Castle?
Any 356s at the Castle?
Is anyone here taking a 356 A, B, C to Classics@Castle on Sunday? Would be grateful for a good look and perhaps be shown what and where to pay attention to when looking to buy.

Hope to see you there

Hi Rich,
Normally you're find most models grouped when parking which works really well, so 356's in one line and so on.
Hope the weathers kind
Garry

Hi Rich. I'll be there with my A, and should be parked up on Roger Bray's stand. All our 356 journeys are very different, but I'd be very happy to show you mine and tell you my experiences. Maybe just ask the guys on the stand to point me out?

I'm planning to be in the line up in '56 356A Coupe 713 UXA. Be good to meet DDKers so come and say hi.

Fingers crossed I will be there in YUK (once you see the number plate I've been given it will all make sense)!! My red 356 1956 coupe. I will look forward to meeting more DDKers.

It was nice to briefly speak to you this morning Garry. Sorry we didn't get to speak again later after the parade, and also apologies to Jeremy for not managing to find you either. My first visit to Classics@Castle - SO MUCH to see, and so little time!

Re: Any 356s at the Castle?
It's me who should be apologising to you Rich. I'm afraid I didn't come up in my 356 in the end, but drove up with my daughter in my new (to me) 911 SC Targa. Good thing too given the huge downpours we drove through on the way - the 356 wipers just can't cope. Anyway PM me and we can see if I can be of any use to you. Btw, the event was just great wasn't it, that magic combination of weather, atmosphere and interest? Hope you enjoyed it too.

Re: Any 356s at the Castle?
I didn't take a photo but there was a 1952 on display in the Roger Bray area. I spoke to the chap that did the metal work and he said that he had spent 730 hours on it!! That is just the metal work not painting or anything else. Now I know very little about how this should be done but that sounds like a very long time. In fact it's about 21 weeks (35 hours per week)?
I don't know what RB hourly rate is but lets say £70 an hour * 51.1k just on getting the body straight. He said it was really difficult because it was the thinner .75mm metal. Now you have to hope that they have all the rare bits to go on this car. Again the chap said that RB has been squirrelling bits away over the years. I can't imagine that they want for the car.

Just to be an equal opportunity admirer. I understand that the 356 shell on the Sportwagon stand was a 1950 and I really liked the 57 Carrera they had on display.
