Fantastic call today, the engine is running :)

Short of time today, but managed to hear the engine running at tick over and rev to around 4000. It sounds awesome.

Apparently driving with no flat spots. Hope to take for a drive soon and see check for any other issues.

Good to hear Greg. The issue list must be shrinking?

Absolutely great morning. Big smiles all round

Washed the dust off the car added some fuel, warmed the engine up then blasted home.

The new carbs, exhaust, manifolds, tune, timing, new plugs, accelerator cable/ pedal mods have made a huge difference. Great deep mellow sound with bags of power. No flat spots great acceleration. No popping when you lift off the go pedal. Very cold early this morning noticed a little icing on the carbs, I guess this is standard until it warmed up.

Chris, I think the flow is correct but will check and let you know

Rich, the list is shorter but still quite a few things to do. I suspect the first 1000 miles will add a number of items. Certainly a lot of squeaks and rattles to stop. Going to remove the rear anti-roll bar, its very harsh ride on crap pot holed B roads. Thinking it might allow the rear suspension to travel more smoothly.

So need some warm weather and a few shows to go to.

Weather looks dry tomorrow, cant wait.

Hi Rich, thanks for the comment. Yes, sounds even better than it looks.

I still have a long snagging list. So making it a waterproof cabin is on the list. Any ideas on sealing the door shuts?

Also carpets, door cards and head liner left to complete.

Unbelievably just about to take it for it's first MOT, 3 years!

When I fitted the PMO's I did not use the regulator that came in the kit. Mainly because it required a return fuel line back to the fuel tank.

For a number of reasons yesterday we tried to rectify that, so drilled through two bulk heads, drilled the fuel tank for a AN8 fitting and then threaded new hard line from back to front remembering to add protective grommets has the line goes through the bulkheads. I cant count the number of times I lifted/ lowered the hoist, crawled in and out of the car, hit my head, watched the cordless torch go flat, and splashed myself in petrol. What a great day :)

I also bought the correct 7psi 3.2 fuel pump to replace the aftermarket 3psi pump I had used. Not quite finished but the rest should be easier

Then MOT

Got the video to work this time round.
One of the best builds on here in such a different way to the Steel Boys.

Hardtop is a masterpiece in so many ways, esp the red folding fabric.
Knockout! :drunken:

Very kind words, and high praise indeed - thanks

Managed to finish off the new fuel system. Made a bracket for the new bosch 7psi fuel pump with a rubber insulation collar. Certainly sounds quieter than the old aftermarket pump. Checked there were no fuel leaks several times, and then engine fired up first time. Bit of tweaking and hopefully drive home next week.

So good friend printed the DDK web pages for my speedster build and bound them into a book with a slip cover. All in colours to match the car 8)
