I can't get over the transformation of this project over recent months, the whole cat has come alive and all those details seems to have magically appeared!

Just love the hard top, the proportions and the colours, and of course the sunroof. Brave to put a rag sunroof in a Porsche, I have one in the roof of my 911 coup.

This car screams Hot Rod so much more than many, fabulous. :cyclops:

Thanks everyone, just doing best I can

So trying to finish off the electrical assembly. Initially when everything was connected not much worked which was extremely disappointing. No head lights, one dip, no washers, no wiper, no indicators etc etc. So back to my list and start working through the items. Turns out when the paint guys pulled the sterring column down to paint around the column a number of wiring joints were broken. Lots of head scratching and this is where I am now

Electrical check
Left indicator x 3 + gauge light - Yes
Right indicator x 3 + gauge light - Yes
Rear fog light + switch light on + pull out when lights on - yes
Brake lights - No
Hazard lights + switch - yes
Head light flash lights - yes
Gauge back lights - yes
Number plate light - yes
Front day time running lights - yes
Side lights Front/ Rear - near side bulb damaged

Some quick pic updates

Eventually found the gasket I bought back in 2016, all marked up in a bag ready to go

Also looking at making my own steering mount, I found a centre section on eBay and hope to make a direct coupling so that I get a little more arm room, should give be about 100 mm over the Porsche wheel

Working from home is getting in the way of progress boo!

Fingers crossed I have sorted the initial electrical faults, just waiting on a new flasher relay to arrive.

I have fitted vibration damping dodo to all bulkheads, inside doors and then used a sound reduction foam over that. Carpet should then cover any remaining noise issues. I will fit the floor sections closer to the time when the carpet is made and fitted.

Work is still processing, I finally started on the windscreen fitting. This is one of the last major jobs

The windscreen horns were tapped for an M10 rather than the imperial bolt. I fitted a stud and large washer for a more secure fit.

The aluminium frame is not a great design but it did fit the screen profile. Gary at Speedster Clinic helped me do a fit and select to get the best fit of the frames he had. Went with painting the frame and horns in satin black to mask it whilst under the hardtop.

I have got the assembly fitted and for now not used any sealer. I think I will have another attempt to tweek the fit tolerances at some point.

Still experiencing some electrical issues, but hope to move the car to my friends garage next weekish so I can tackle the gearshift, engine oil, engine start up, headlight aim setting and maybe some last electrical issues. The main electrical issue is a short from live to earth on the passenger side indicator cct, just cant find it.

No deadline set for the first drive in the new paint. For me its always been about built not bought.

It looks great Greg. Nice idea painting the screen frame.

What’s happening with the short on the passenger side indicator??

Electrical fault on the indicators fixed

Turned out to be a number of faults, new 12v bulb that did not work, 6v bulb got put in somehow in the past. Because the indicator holders are the same as brake/ tail you need non-equal pin lengths on the bulbs, I used twin filament bulbs but managed to get one that was connected live to ground. Similar issue with the led bulbs brake 21w / tail 5w I had different brightness so switched the live feeds over and now all works.

Loads of trim / gasket work to finish around the hardtop and fit the rear 1/4 windows

All ready to go back to the garage to fill up engine oil, change rear top shock bolts to high tensile strength m12 bolts, check transmission gearshift operation and headlight aim and then might be good to go. Well what I really mean is start the shakedown and another snagging list.

That’s excellent Greg. I had the same problem, mismatched bulbs causing just one side to flash quicker than the other side.

At some point will change the indicators over to led as I have done with the brake lights

The 1/4 windows are mostly installed, need to add the waterproof seals and a M6 rivnut for the bottom centre fixing into the hardtop. The alignment between the 1/4 and side window should prevent water coming in, maybe not a car wash!

Also cut and punched the millboard for the door cards.

Very close now to a first proper drive in the new coat.

With help completed a lot of double checks yesterday, only small items but overall help to add to the reliability. Electrical cct's working (need to confirm the oil temp/ pressure gauge readings) engine running, moved a twisted fuel line, changed the position of the rear brake lines, adjusted clutch pedal and gearbox alignment. Just need to finish some more tuning on the oxygen analyser etc

Great to see the car out on the road
