Today I rolled past 80,00 kilometres.....



....now on 80,168 from a start of 64,880 kilometres when I first drove the car.

That's 15,288 kilometres or 9,500 miles in 22 months.....with the Spa trip comng up at the end of May I'll add another 1,000 miles or so before the 2nd anniversary of my first drive.

So.....17,000 kilometres in 2 years for a car that spends all its life in a de-humidified garage and only comes out for a bit of fun! ....

....guess I'll just have to try harder!

....the guy clearly doesn't drive his cars enough! ....



...on top of new rear tyres the car came in today to sort a squeak to the NSF which turned out to be a loose ARB/droplink arm, a nice catch, and the fitting of a new 16mm rear ARB...



....fresh rubber and a sharper rear end.....amazed at the difference the ARB has made to the way the car handles...



....followed by an extended drive this afternoon the car is now well sorted for a trip to Belgium

At the weekend I drove the E for the first time since early October, taking advantage of the fact that I have access to a workshop to refit the rear anti-roll bar......only this time I did it myself!



For the sake of originality I went back to a 15mm bar which I purchased in panic thinking something was wrong as I gave my car a beam rear axle when fitting a 16mm bar with too small bushes and no grease!.......the larger bar was actually fine when fitted with proper bushes and felt much like its 15mm cousin, I would have actually kept it if I didn't already have a replacement........bar fitted, the underside looks as good as ever although I wished I hadn't painted it in body colour! .....



I've been in a bit of quandary lately pondering if the car will actually get properly used now the Mongrel is on the road......friends have been trying to poison my mind by telling me I'll now never drive it and I have admit I couldn't bear to see the car sat doing nothing in the garage for long periods....I have contemplated starting a 'what's it worth' thread, firstly to gauge what a 'real' value would actually be and secondly to flush out any potential interest....for now my heart isn't quite there although time will tell.

On the way back from the workshop the heavens opened although I still went for a proper drive on a couple of my favourite local roads......first chance I've really had to compare my two cars and I surprised myself how quickly I'd forgotten how different they are!.......although cut from the same cloth the E is just so much smoother in every respect, in comparison it's so, so quiet, gearbox is silky and the ride much softer. Those that have rolled with me will testify that the E has plenty of grunt although far it's more progressive than the 2.5.....naturally both cars are very sporting in character although the E is much more of a gentleman's cruiser and is far easier to live with.

After the drive I gave the car a well deserved wash, grinning from ear to ear as I wiped it down....



I have a few improvements and maintenance jobs planned for early Spring so there'll be no excuses for not driving the car plenty come next summer.....it'll be interesting to see if my infatuation with my hot rod has subsided a little by then so that both cars get the use they deserve.....if not a 'For Sale' thread beckons!

Comments are all genuine and it is a real dilemma that's playing on my mind.

My problem is that I get too emotionally attached to things and find it hard to let go.....there's a lot of heart and soul that's gone into this car so if the decision ever comes it'll be tough.

I enjoy the ramblings within this section as it paints a nice history of thoughts at that time, more for my own entertainment than anything else.

Believe it or not the car is not currently for sale, if that changes I'll be sure to say so loud and clear

Sell it!

My advice Darren is not to rush into any decision. On another completely different topic someone once gave me a good piece of advice which eventually proved correct and it's the same with cars I think.
The advice was that any decision within six months of a major event is usually an emotional one whereas eventually a rational decision rises to the top after your emotions have settled some time later.

I would have this year with both cars and review how you feel in the autumn.

I couldn't choose! They are both great but diffferent cars. I'd keep em both!

You know you're not going to sell it so stop beating yourself up over it, forget about it and enjoy xmas...

Spring will be here before you know it and you'll get bored and tired driving that loud orange bitza all the time after a while

.....often forget about that ad.....created for seo purposes when we upgraded our website a few years back and indeed if you search classic/early Porsche 911 Swindon we do make first page. At the time the guys at work also thought it'd be a bit of fun to post it on Ebay and Autotrader!

The ad hasn't been changed for some time, now suitably amended to reflect current trends!..........and to deter purely casual interest!

And btw, everything's cheaper up North!

Indeed, but as they say..... 'you can never pay too much, just buy too early!'

The new price should ensure I'll still get to enjoy the car for a good few years yet!
