Can I squeeze one more year of fun her? Maybe one last patch, its just a little bit of welding....

... probably won't be too expensive...

Good grief! How did it pass the MoT the previous years?
Look forward to your repair of the taboo torsion tube at the rear.
Lots of pics required please!

Must have been really strong paint! It looked pretty good at the start. Back to slate grey?

Yes back to slate grey, with red and black interior, black carpet, red seats and panels. Although this feels like it is a long way away...

Will post torsion tube surgery tonight.

Post by 1968911s »

cutting into the rear longitudinal reveals hidden rust, this would become a theme..

torsion tube was welded to unlikely places

Post by 1968911s »

you can see here where the tube had been welded to the rear kick board between the rear seat pressings and the floor pan.

evidence of a numerous plate 'repairs' to chassis

Post by 1968911s »

under the underseal on the passenger side the outside of the longitudinal was fine this was removed for access, but that was it. From the torsion tube side under the first plate, were , second and third repair plates on the original rusty metalwork.. it all had to go..
