DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

I am looking for marine shipping insurance to cover the transportation of my 71E from the US to UK.

I've talked to Towergate (who are recommended by the shipping agent, Kingtown Shipping); the cost is likely to be 1 - 1.5% of the cargo value (~45K pounds)

I also contacted Hagerty, who have insured my classic cars here in the US for the past 6+ years - they quoted me $400 USD for what looks to be the same port-to-port coverage with an agreed valuation of $65K
Does anyone have experience or opinions on marine insurance?

Ummm, have shipped a total of five cars and a race car chassis and, er, never insured any... Guess I got lucky as never had any problems. But I'm probably not a good example to follow!

I must admit to the same - 12 cars shipped over from the US in the past 15 years or so - all with Kingstown bar one - with & no separate insurance ...

Shipping by sea is very safe

I have a container with £100k of goodson it adrift in the Indian Ocean right now. On board the ship MOL Comfort. Google it and see pics of the largest container ship failure ever. My goods are replaceable, I feel for those with goods on board that aren't.
