912 Targa : A slow restore / refresh

I dropped my car into Newdigate Body today. It joins the queue behind another DDK, that isn't MT's!!
It has some rust issues that need to be sorted before they worst and the paint is being refreshed. I thought about taking it back to it's original colour but decided I like Polo Red more and it's almost a 67 912 colour.
I've had the car since Summer 2011. It has had the front pan replaced by Tuthill but otherwise has treated me well. The car was originally delivered in Germany and shipped to the States. In 1999 it was imported into the UK and the previous owner bought it after seeing it parked in Clapham.
I'm not experienced mechanically but the car will be learning tool. I've progress from not being able to change the oil, or changing the steering UJ and taking my generator out to be repaired. I'm taking an evening class in car mechanics.
After the respray I will progress onto setting up / refreshing the engine.
Hopefully next year I will be able to start on the interior and think again about taking it back to a soft top.
Some Photos from since I have had the car
This is what is used to look like in 1999 when living in California
