Mick

I have no idea what the owner was thinking.

Half way through the resto I thought about phoning Bootsy........................ maybe he's wants a badge in keeping with his 'new look'.

I resisted the temptation to phone Bootsy with the story that I had found a special rare coloured badge perfect for his car.......... :P

And pressed on.

Getting towards the nitty gritty end of the resto one or two bits of damage became more apparent, particularly at the edge of the shield towards the bottom, but eventually I got to something worth putting on a bonnet. Not the best badge condition wise but definitely better than where it started.......

This one is now up for grabs,

Just received my badge back from Mike.

It looks amazing !

Thanks again if anyone is contemplating this I would throughly recommend it, the difference it has made whilst keeping its patina (at my request) is beyond my expectations.

Different instructions for this badge. Cleaning every background pimple whist maintaining their form and integrity is very time consuming. Over 50 hours in this badge. It has held things up, sorry to those who are waiting. This one off to America. Image

Thanks Andy. It's a bit blingy for me but those were the instructions.

50 hours that's a fair amount of work.

Great result I bet he is very pleased with it.

Kind regards.

I don't have a 'before' …. but it was in quite a state with lots of enamel missing …. but Mike did a great job on the one for my 72E restoration. I got exactly what I asked for … repaired, but with an appropriate amount of 'patina'.

Over-joyed of Newdigate :)

He hasn't seen it yet in the flesh but I offerred a picture of it up when it was in a similar condition to the one above I did for Mick and he said 'not good enough'. Horses for courses. I prefer Mick's.

50 hours is a lot but as usual I could do the next one quicker now that I have found the kindest technique for cleaning up the pimples. The struggle is working hard enough to get the dirt out of all the tiny nooks and crannys without destroying the 'pimply' look. It involves something I read on one of Jamie's threads, a chat with my dentist again and a bottle of red wine (for me, not the badge).

Regards
Mike

I much prefer the 'patinated' look too but I'm sure that there will be more potential customers wanting the 'as new' look (especially in the US).

Another Ddk badge, some originality to be retained if possible (matching 40 year old orange bars is tricky)
