I was invited along to view a car today by someone not too familiar with 911s but had imported one from CA recently. It turns out to be a very sound indeed '73T in a special order colour which I can only liken to Ice Green Metallic (although more silvery). Paint tag 358-9-3. The finish was pretty poor and colour could only really be seen in areas that had not been exposed to the sun. It had a sunroof, through the grill spots, chrome arch trims, the original working Becker and was spec'd with Recaros although these are no longer with the car.
Strangely he had just replaced the Sporto box although the vin confirms it wasn't originally a Sporto. I haven't checked the engine number.
Not being at all familiar with US spec cars what's the view with CIS cars? It certainly appealed to me from a bodywork perspective (the 47k on the odometer certainly tied in with the cars overall condition).
Any thoughts? What might such a car be worth in the UK?

Of my recent experience of 73sjm 's 1973 us cis 2.4t I think it's a nice set up. Quite quick but great 30mpg fuel economy. I gather a lot of the cis is '73 only, but the later cis parts can be fitted with small mods

It's possibly the most underrated pre-impact bumper 911 ...

One word of warning, this was the first use of the Bosch K-Jetronic system by Porsche and it wasn't perfect. Expect cold start issues and the usual backfires. The system changed as Porsche developed it over time so parts for an early engine may be difficult. I've had trouble getting the system in my car to run correctly and have struggled to find a specialist to sort it. The low compression, soft cam and small ports mean decent torque but no top end, mine starts to go flat >5,500rpm.

PS Car looks nice though!

Is it definitely '73.5 2.4 (CIS) T ?
The overriders are the earlier style (although easy enough to have been changed) - '73.5 models had the bigger/uglier all-rubber version.
The US-spec '73 2.4T built up to ~Jan '73 had an mfi engine.

Hi All
Interesting looking car love the patina, but why would you fit a 'sporto' box to a non 'sporto' spec. car, that's got to hurt the value?
All the best

Mine has the same air box, really well made and has resisted cold start backfires with the built in pop off valve, no problems.
Hi shoestring, I understand the cams are 'soft' but how much lower is the compression ratio and how much smaller the ports ??
Reason for asking is that for longevity im considering PMO's rather than chase CIS parts in the future, I heard PMO's with E cams is a good bet - any comments please ??
Other than being an old system the car runs well and the top end is fine !
Cheers
Steve

I've seen this car as it's local to me and I have never seen an early 911 so original and still rust free.
Did you take a look under the arches and floor? absolutely perfect factory finish.
Very hard car to price as it's got to be a very rare find in this condition.
I believe it WAS Sportmatic but now Manual? Makes for more desirability I'd say.

If its as solid as it looks and the <50k miles is genuine I'd say it was a £3Xk car.
Are you buying it?

Here is your answer on value. Bang up to date. Knocking on the door of £20k apparently.

Could be an interesting car. Only Ferry Porsche ordered cars in that metallic green special order colour. You have probably stumbled on a family car
