My 356 finally arrived from the US

The car shipped from LA with Kingstown shipping. Highly recommend them
Picked the car up fom Chatcham ( could do a whole new post on that!)
Took it for an MOT, passed first time but had a very kind mot man. Put black tape on the headlights, found some notes on his system that said ....pre 65 car can have a combined brake/indicator ( amber section for indicating and brake, red section only for when lights are on), and then the one that really made me smile. The windscreen washers weren't connected, but he passed it saying that I have an alternative way of seeing what's up ahead if the windscreen obstructs my view......by looking over the roadsters windscreen.
I took all the paperwork on Thursday to the local DVLA office and a nice gentleman filled the forms for me. This morning I get my paperwork back with my registration number.
354 YUP
I'm not sure if he's having a laugh or was trying to be nice
I'll post a couple of photos later

Cool story. I'm still faffing around trying to work out who to ship my 912 with.
I can't believe they gave you 354! Why wouldn't you just hold the paperwork until someone else had been assigned 354 and 355? Proves these people have no souls.
They assigned my scooter "YUC" after I had spent 18 months restoring it. Bastards.

Kingstown are in Hull about 6 miles from the village I live in - I used them some years ago to ship a 356 I bought in the states - absolutely first class service - Mark even came round to check the car(and have a coffee) when it was delivered. Great guys with a genuine interest in both the cars and the service they offer.
Pleased you've got another Porsche Jamie - I remember you coming to my house with Chris Knapman some years ago - you drove my 2.7 RS even though ( as I seem to recall) you'd broken your foot that morning and spent the day hobbling around !
Hope you're well
Steve

Hi Steve. Yeah - I remember it well. I forgot that was around the time I broke my ankle. I actually did it a few days before, chasing a burglar off my roof (no shitting). I remember putting up with the absolute agony of it all because I imagined no-one was ever going to offer me drive in a 73RS again.
Did the council make you pull that cool garage down?

Yeah they did - so I bought some land up the road and built a house with a bigger garage instead ! -remember the burglar story now - it was only three days after you'd driven my car that I hit a lorry in it at 53 mph, so a good job you got the drive in that day (wasn't really fit for driving after (as Gregor Fisken called it ) my "Skirmish"!
Your new car looks cool - looking forward to seeing your photos as work progresses on it !

Cheers Steve. I'm really excited about the car. Got one slightly more pressing project to get sorted first, then I expect I'll go mental on it.
Good move on the garage, too. Screw those guys.

Well there is no doubt if anyone can photograph a 356 to show its best attributes that will be you Jamie.
Not quite so easy though when it's not a coupe ( tongue in cheek and all that, of course.)

Now that is a result!
So did you buy it as a shell, have it restored over there and then ship?
Would love to know more!
