Great Dave, I just can't enough of seeing pictures like these. It's wonderful seeing these early cars being reworked so beautifully. More pictures please.....
Thanks

Great work, Dave. That's a fine looking car you have there. You must be thrilled with how it has turned out.

Hi Dave, That is a lovely very early car you have there - I think I saw it at Hedingham last year? If it is a British car it must have been one of the first RHD cars. No chance of letting us know its Vin number? Incidentally, does it have the outside temperature gauge option and, if so, is it still working?
Cheers,
Howard

Hi Howard,
The Vin is 351111 first registered FGW 14C. I have applied to have the number transfered back to the car. It was one of the first 912's registered through AFN ,10 Nov 1965. Indeed it was at Hedingham last year. It does have the outside temp gauge, sadly not working. I have 3 that are all faulty :(
I will post more pictures of the rebuild later this week.
Cheers Dave

Hi Nick.
The car was originally Polo Red. My personal choice was Silber Metalic ( factory option colour).
Your exhaust system is on the engine of the Slate Grey outlaw show in my other post! The best system and welding :) .
Cheers Dave

Beautiful work! Definitely mor pictures, please.

Grenoble, why the interest in the outside temperature gauge? Mine has it and it works! (although it is a little optomistic).

Hi Anthony,
As far as I know the temperature gauge in the left of the 5 gauge positions was offered as an option for only a short while. The sender that links to the gauge works via a long delicate capillary tube which is easily and often broken. Mine wasn't working and when I looked into it I was told that there is now noone anywhere who can mend the original capillary tubes (which was colossally expensive when it could be done) and that the only option is to have the gauge working electronically. I have actually had mine co nverted but it wasn't cheap either! I had made an enquiry on here to try and acquire a functional gauge and a ddker got in touch with me, said he had an original complete one, showed pictures of it in its original box, but wouldn't sell it for any price (why was he so tantalising?!!!!).
Anyway, I am so glad you have a functional gauge - look after it!!!!!!!!
Cheers,
Howard

Hi Howard,

I did have an issue with my gauge a few years ago. The actual "thermocouple" (possibly the wrong word) broke off and was discarded. Through Terry Allen it was refurbished by Knowsley Instrument Services Ltd. in Liverpool. It now works ok but it does have a red light at 6 O'clock which I assume should only come on at freezing temperatures?
