'72 911T Restoration

As my car has already been stripped and blasted and is currently in the capable hands of Barry Carter it is probably about time I pulled my finger out and started a restoration thread!!

The car was purchased early this year from Ebay in the US (after Barry agreed that it looked like a good straight honest car in need of some extensive bodywork).

Anyway here are some photos prior to it being shipped to the UK (not quite sure what goes on in the trailer in the background of the first shot)!!....

Welcome to the restoration section Richard

You have a nice, straight, unrestored and unmolested car, a great basis for a quality restoration 8) - looking forward to watching your progress and great to see another car being brought back to life.

Good luck with your plans and enjoy the journey.

Cheers,

The plan is to restore the car to standard spec with the exception of the engine which will probably be receiving a little more power.

Once the car arrived in the UK from the US it went into storage at Autofarm for a few months until a slot with Barry became available..

All was fine until its pre-restoration slumber was rudely awoken by the fella who would like to restore an Alfa Romero and his mockney sidekick......

Thank god those two charlies didn't get their hands on it!!!!

Cheers

Thanks god indeed!

I guess they didn't buy it because it didn't have a 'patternd' front bumper

Great find and good luck.

Sorry for asking but is this the same Barry that is working for Steve Wright on his special?

I have given up with Photobucket and am now trying out Imageshack!

I have been pretty busy work wise so this is the first opportunity I have had to update the thread since the shell got dropped off with Barry. Needless to say Barry has been very busy working his magic and I hope to show you the results of his hard work over the next few days or so. Anyway, here are some post blast snaps of what he has had to contend with....

Tank support area....

Image

Bumper mounting area...

Image

Scuttle end...

Image

Front inner wing area...

Image

Front chassis leg area...

Image

Battery box (not looking too bad)...

Image

Buckle in front pan...

Image

My car is one of the first 200 2.4T's and according to Barry it looks like Porsche were using up some old wing closer stock.....

Image

Broken bolt attention required to battery box....

Image

More metal horror pictures to follow shortly!!!
