Hi Ian

Really pleased with my new aquisition. I have you to thank for putting me onto the DDK site, you were one of the fist people i spoke to around 6 months ago regarding 2.4E and early 911s, the rest they say is history.

James's 2.4E was the first car i viewed quite a few months ago, there were a few others inbetween, whilst James found his RS, glad to say everything has worked out and i have got the car i really wanted.

Cheers Ian

Well done to you to Ian. James kindly showed me around his/yours and it seemed a very nice car indeed.

So how big is the smile following the drive home?

The car looked stunning in the flesh yesterday James, simply stunning.

You guys did your best to tease him yesterday... And yes you are right: Alan does already have a snag list to deal with :? Hey, that's what the first miles are for.

Yes it was A Big Day for me, and a drive that will certainly be remembered. 8)

From 1977 - 1989 we lived in a very old farmhouse in Suffolk. My parents bought it as basically a ruin, and then spent a decade rebuilding and restoring it.
This is the house where I first watched (repeatedly) on VHS that Steve McQueen film, and where I resolved that I'd have a 911 when I grew up.

So I thought it fitting to start my ownership with a personally important visit: I went back to the house that I have not been back to in exactly 23 years.
What on earth would the boyhood version of me have thought if he looked out of the bedroom window and saw this car rolling up the drive?

Please do forgive me the self indulgence, but it is my photo thread about my car, so I guess them's the rules :P

Didn't know you were a Suffolk boy James, not a Tractor Boy I hope?

They did a grand job on it. A wonderful house.
You need to pop back and straighten up that box hedge. Remember not to prune hard until after Derby Day and then another light cut in August.
Good sharp hand shears only. That should keep it in shape. :)

The car looks fabulous. Doesn't need such a fine backdrop though, it'll look great anywhere.
Has your warranty expired yet? Poor old Alan, he's got one of them awkward customers...

I flew to Madrid first thing Monday morning, so all I can do is use my imagination for now :-(

I do have a 1000 mile round trip to Belgium and Germany planned in 2 weeks though...
Perfect shakedown, and only fair that I quickly let the car know what to expect with me as owner ;-)
