posting pictures?

I do not know the correct IT phrases to please bear with me.

i have been on the IB Web site a lot recently about my 3.2 re-build.

They have a demon short-cut way to post pics from the host site to the post on their forum.

Can this be done on DDK also? :?:

Graham.

can you explain the 'demon' way

To be honest if it involves hosting the picture on our server I'd rather not - just increases costs and maintenance

The coding on both sites is almost exactly the same, I often copy from one board to the other, so whatever it is you are doing on IB.com (which doesn't have image hosting either) should work here

Good morning -

As a recent newbie over there also - I've noticed that posting pictures can be done without first placing the images onto, for example, Photobucket - they can be uploaded directly from your own files.

This may be what Graham is referreing to - it obviously simplifies and speeds up the process.

Sean

And thus they have to be hosted on the server increasing maintenance and cost so it's a no from me I'm afraid :P

I think Sean has it:

On IB you open a thread or open a new post. Write what you will but to add a pic you go down to the very bottom of the screen and it promps you to search for you pic on your 'My Pictures' section.
Mine are already loaded onto tinypic.
You select a pic and clic Open.
It takes you back to the post and you click 'Upload'
After a short time, say 2 secs it is loaded onto the post. Submit the post and on the thread the words and the pic appears usually downsized. A click expands them to 100%.

This saves the tedious action to go through the security rigmarole of Tinypic for every pic.

Anyway, just a suggestion.
Thanks for listening! :)

It's something our software supports but for reasons stated above I'd rather not activate it

Use FlickR. So so easy and reliable.

Or host them yourself. Many of my DDK pictures are hosted on my own site and I just link from there.

If your an iPhone,ipad/tapatalk user you can upload straight from your device without having to upload to photobucket etc , although I think you have to stump up £1.49 for the privilege .

I avoid all the iphone etc stuff.
I have a complicated existence as it is, do not want the bother TBH.

Bootsy has spoken, so good enough for me.

Might look at another host though Gary, thanks.

There's a nice option in Photobucket that allows you to export directly from iPhoto, you can load whole folders in one go - works great and very quick :)

I've been using google pictures to host my pictures for ages now. If you have a gmail account then it's the same ID.

Ian.

I'm with Darren on iPhoto if you are a Mac User (I am now a convert) - just 'Export' to Photobucket and they resize as well so being a sensible file size on the server. Within Photobucket you just click on the image box to copy the hosting text and paste to your DDK thread.

Also agree with Bootsy that images on DDK Hoster would be costly in space.
