again with the questions

I have in mind an outlaw look for my 356 B - anyone know of the pitfalls/ problems with putting standard Fuchs onto a 356? -
I suspect they need a spacer? -
Does anyone know they rub on the wheel arches without modification. ?

yep - cheers Bootsy, I thought as much - I was wondering if there was an aftermarket conversion spacer that could be attached - I seem to remember there being one for a VW beetle ? so was hoping for similar.

You can get 'wide 5' (PCD 5x205 as per 356, early Beetle and Bus) to Porsche (PCD 5x130) adaptors from a few places. As you have said, they are popular with the VW guys for their early vehicles so are usually readily available on the VW sites. As for issues and them fitting/rubbing in the arches, I don't know. It depends on the wheels sizes/offsets and the adaptor widths I guess.

Fit 356c disk brakes?

I suspect you will have enough clearance issues without adapters making it worse.

Plenty of wide-5 alloys to choose from, none take your fancy?

this car uses wide 5 to porsche adapters and runs 15x4 1/2s and deep 6s on the back. tyres were well close at the back but it looked spot on with super low ride height .one of the coolest looking Bs out there. love it. probably handles like a piece of shite

My '58 with 4 1/2s up front with 135s and deep 6s out back with 185/65 tyres......car will have a GFK rear window when done!!

Fuch look good on an outlaw, heres mine, now sadly sold.

yes - they look fantastic - although to be fair, I think that having the car you had helps! and it was looking at your car that has pushed me down the outlaw route - hopefully I'll try and make mine half as good as yours.

Can I ask please ( as I also want to get rid of the bumpers ) - on the rear of the car you have a chrome number plate light - are these readily available ?- as I assume that if you get rid of the bumper ( which holds the lights for the B ) you'll need to rehouse the lights for the MOT?

How did you get your Fuchs on - I hear that you can put C disc brakes on and they'll fit straight on - or the spacers/adapter with drums ( as mentioned in the above )

Joe, thank you for your compliments, I am sure your car will look awesome, I have never seen a bad looking 356, no mater what condition.

Roger Bray did the resto so he supplied all the new parts, so I presume you could get the chrome number plate light for your B.

I had C disc's fitted so the wheels fitted straight on with some spacers.

FYI. The Barons car is an A and the licence plate light is the standard fitting for that car.
They are available as a repro and I'm sure could be made to fit your B.

Regarding rear license plate lighting when bumpers are off I used an American number plate surround from the sixties with stick on numbers and used motorcycle led fixing chrome bolts ( 10 pounds new ebay )

Cleans up the back end and gives a blue strong light onto registration

I've newer had a numberplate light fitted to mine (bumper less T6 B) or rear reflectors, never even been mentioned at MOT time !
