If the restoration is half as good as yours it will be a grand tale and as you very well know it looks like it could take a few years. I'm sure we all look forward to watching it happen if that's possible.

Thanks Andy, Jason, Bootsy, Martin, Gary, Dougie, Mike, Darren etc. for your best wishes and to all the other DDKer's that have shared this fantastic journey with us. This is just the end of another chapter and I'm sure there are more fantastic stories to tell about Eve.

I will miss Eve, and the endless phone calls with my favourite dentist, but I know that she is in good hands. We all dream, some of us are lucky enough to be there, and for that I am truly thankfully.

I was a bit surprised to see no massive leap at the end. But when I thought it through perhaps it's that the bidders were not your normal ebay snipers who keep their powder dry until the last 20 seconds - but enthusiasts who bid what they wanted to pay without thinking too hard on when they placed the bid. Just a theory. Anyway as Mike says it's been a hell of a ride and a good result.

that's what we did. bid what we wanted to pay and that was that. was obviously very hopefully when i went to bed last night a couple of hours before the end of the auction, but it wasn't to be. had to draw the line somewhere and 37k was already 2k over our absolute max!

Very hard to say with that one picture, and it is quite corroded. However, it does seem that the nose has been machined flat, so that is a strong indication. For most of the other details the caliper will have to be removed. One quick check would be to see what wrench size for the bleed nipples: normal is 11mm same as the cross-over nuts but the 908 had 10mm.

Congratulations on the sale. I hope to assist the new owner with puzzling out any odd features.

Greetings,

For those worried, rest assured that the vehicle has gone to a very good home! The intention is to keep it to add to a collection, rather than do it up quickly and flog it.

Although the monies have been paid, arrangements have yet to be made to collect the vehicle from Scotland.

Once that is done it will take a few weeks to conduct a full appraisal and that will determine just how the restoration should proceed, timescale, etc.

Due to several other 911 projects already on the go, it is likely to be a slow job...

Obviously the discovery and tale of the history of the vehicle has generated a lot of interest. I'm assuming that the restoration will also be of interest to you all? Certainly, we value input - especially from those of you with specialist knowledge.

So if there's enough interest, I propose to keep this thread updated with ongoing progress.

Let me know.

Great to hear Eve has found a sympathetic home, Jarvo, and congrats on your latest acquisition.

Do you plan on keeping her in the UK or might she be heading to the Southern hemisphere?

Do you restore yourself or will it be passed to a specialist?

Apologies! Many questions which shows the interest level remains high (and I can't be alone?!)
