Now to make it slide….

I’d got some wheels left over from something

Image

So I put them in the lathe

Image

To get them to a point so they would fit nicely into some angle iron I planned to use as a channel

Then started on fitting the wheels into the bottom of the door

Image

Then I made the support for the channel

Image

Fitted the channel

And here it is working (taken from the other side of the door)

Showing other side of the door - room painted and floor laid

Image

Next job was the floor - I chose these interlocking plastic tiles. They were easy to lay and seem good quality

Image

And finished

At long last I was again able to park my daily in there

Image

Wedding prep then started to move forward at a pace

Image

And again

Image

And then on the day

Image

I was really surprised how well everyone fitted in there on the day - and then in the evening this half of the barn became a dance floor. Cracking day was had by all of us

Some 3 weeks after, the wedding is now just a fond memory and I’ve managed to get the barn back to something like it’s going to be.

Before I can crack on with with deer Uber she itself I’ve had to do some work on the car to get it ready for CLM
Image

I can’t begin to tell you how amazing it is working with a lift. Not just for the jobs underneath the car, but also stuff under the dash or in the footwell - you can just lift the car to chest height and everything is more comfortable

I put a new starter motor and ignition switch in and changed the oil and filter.

That brings you up to this week-end. I’ve now started on the corner unit. That brings it’s own complexity as I want a smoothly turning carousel in the corner which I’m making from an unused acro prop and some lathe-turn Delrin (plastic)

But as Edd would say, that’s a job for another day…..

Superb, and what a memorable venue for the wedding, well worth all the hard work. Well done.

Look at these cats. I hope there was some kraftwerk on the playlist for them.

Great effort and what a result.
Daughter weddings are a very fond memory occasion.

Having a lift is a real dream for me now age is showing, but don't have the head room.

Lathe looking rusty!

So what are you're petrol head plans once the workshop is complete? Other than tinkering and servicing isn't your current fleet pretty low maintenance? With those facilities surely you need a deep resto project in the pipeline?

That is an amazing space and I love that you've done the majority of it yourself. Nice work.

That's a thing these days, my son sports a big curly afro, beard and serial killer steel rimmed glasses. Looks like the love child of Jeffrey Dahmer and Bob Ross. Strange as neither the wife or myself look like either.

If you're wearing slip on Hush Puppies you might as well end it.
