Should be on with it now

Got to say Jonathan has done an excellent job giving me a very nice wheel from the rather tatty affair I sent him - highly recommended to fellow DDK'rs :)

Hi

Just to say thanks to Jonathon for re-covering my wheel. I attempted this myself and although the result looked ok I was never happy with it. The leather was loose on the plastic rim and would move around. Jonathon has done a fantastic job, neat stitching and really tight leather.

Another very happy customer here.

I bought the 67S wheel from DEEMAN and it was shipped straight to Jonathan with the instructions not to recover but to reuse the original. From the photos (I never saw the wheel prior to the work) and Jonathan's assessment I knew it was going to be a tough ask. The leather was cracked and perished. It was extremely dry and crusty and the stitching had all but come apart. In Jonathan's expert hands the leather was rejuvenated over time and then the reassembly began.

In what seems like double quick time the wheel is finished, delivered, beautifully packed, and restored to that wonderful original patina type look. Despite all the hurdles Jonathan has done a fantastic job. I am well pleased. The stitching work is brilliant and he carefully pulled together all the edges beautifully. Considering the time it must have taken the cost is extremely reasonable too.

All in all, you won't get a better job I'm convinced.

A big thank you Jonathan. Pictures to follow.

Now I need a complimentary bat wing and horn push to match. Any out there?

Regards
Mike

Hello Mike, many thanks for the kind words, glad its to your liking....first time i have restored and retained the original leather, was good to learn what was required and a pleasure to be able to save the patina

if anyone else is interested in doing this am happy to try and help, please drop me a line and send me some pictures, assuming the leather can be saved, treated and stretched to reinstate the normal pattern its about £80, (to remove the old stitching and replace with new), best to send pictures to confirm the condition

many thanks

Jonathan,

What an excellent result with Mike's wheel, it looks amazing. This is exactly the kind of look I would like to achieve with mine.

My wheel is currently stored in a box along with the rest of the components of the car, I will dig it out and look to ship this to you.

Have you attempted to stress leather to achieve a similar look or that pushing things too far?

The only other option for me is to sit every night in front of the television with my wheel and put some serious hours in pretending to drive.

Can you send me shipping details.

Regards

Tom

Great stuff Jonathan.

I have a 380mm which needs the Patina treatment. I will get it to the Fairmile meet if I can find it !
