Very interesting to see, quite like the look of a CV as a project due to chassis/body simplicity.

Are part costs now escalating due to the 2CV's popularity?

Great update Darren - I've always loved these cars & vans.

I did many trips in a 2CV through Europe including taking a Dyane down through France, over the Pyrenees & into Northern Spain (& back) - slow going up steep hills (especially if stuck behind a slower-moving truck) but not so much of a problem on the flat if you kept the momentum going !

Mind you it was many years ago ...

Your posts have brought a smile to my face on this otherwise grey/miserable day - gotta love a(ny) 2CV ... 8)

As a kid approaching driving age I used to love looking in the local Citroen showroom at the new Dollys awaiting sale. Always wanted one but ended up with a classic Beetle for my first car

Just read through this thread, fantastic to see someone giving the 2cv some love!

My dad is 2cv mad and has owned, sold and restored tons of them. He is thinning out his fleet but intends to keep at least 1 standard 2cv and his favourite red white and blue 2cv van which he proudly bombs about the small village hi lives in in France. Cant find a pic of the van but found one of the keyring he had made by a family member who makes jewellery.

When my brother and I were in our late teems we used to love taking my mothers white 2CV out for a thrash...f*** me was it fun.....try as hard as I could to rev it to oblivion it just wouldn’t.....it just stuck at max revs and stayed there....

Screaming round country bends ...leaning into the corners to counteract the G forces was obligatory...

Mum wasn’t so happy when the fabric roof ripped off one morning on the motorway...because one of us forgot to clip the soft top back into position properly....

Happy days......

....longing to do something similar in the Ivory car Andy....spectacular Alps scenery with great weather and the top rolled back driving at a leisurely pace....bliss! 8) ....just need to persuade the wife!

Wonderful to see the early Citroen love around here :)

Cheers,

Vive la deuche, I have had 3 and still have the last one. But installing a Cherman engine? By Toutatis, its heresy of the very worst kind. Its almost as bad as messing about with a nice original Carrera 3.0. Tsk.

(Nice work I suppose :) Barry did you have to connect your welder to a 9v battery to get the required power setting?)

....I have often wondered about the concept of shafting a German lump inside a Frenchie!........no doubt first started by the British and only carried out in the UK!
