Blinking handbrake light.
My handbrake warning light blinks when the handbrake is up and the car stationary - any idea why? According to the manual it should just glow constantly. The car is a 1970 911s
Thanks

Mark
It blinked on the 71 and 73 cars I've had too. Made a blinking noise as well. I've never had a 70S though. Maybe some other 2.2 owners will chime in.
Regards
Mike

Re: Blinking handbrake light.
Thanks Mike - sounds like they might "all do that". Blinking bit makes me feel something more serious is awry! Shall ignore it.

Re: Blinking handbrake light.
Hi Mark,
It should flash. Early cars don't but it is correct for your car. The handbrake warning light uses the flasher relay.
One thing Porsche didn't really think through was writing the "Oil" directly under this warning light. Some have thus assumed that light has something to do with the oil, which is does not. The use if the word "oil" is because it is the oil gauge.

"Blinking Handbrake light"
Yes, it can be rather annoying ( ).
My 72T does it and it didn't actually bother me as it was clearly accompanied by the ticking of a relay. However, I had somehow assumed that it doubled up as an oil-pressure-warning-light, given the placing and the mentioned script. As I haven't yet started the car up with the handbrake off, I had not looked too closely.
Best wishes,
Sam.

Re: Blinking handbrake light.
It can be re-wired to by pass the flasher relay quite easily if you prefer a quiet/constant warning light instead. It is confusing with the old fashioned hand brake symbol looking a bit like a dip stick.
