Re: 3.2 engine
Cannot resist...
I have hillclimbed my road spec 73T for 21 years.
Started with a 2.2T/Webers (130 bhp maybe) then to a 2.4 mech inj E/S (190bhp for sure) and 12 years or more ago a mighty 3.2 on Bosche/Bob Watson chip = 230 bhp.
It is fastest with the 3.2
It is most reliable with the 3.2
It is the most fuel efficient with the 3.2
It is the more tail-happy with the 3.2
The 3.2 engine does not rev (6k max) the 2.4 was fab but bloody awkward and the 2.2 was boring.
The 3.2 does not need to rev, is is so full of torque from 1500 rpm like a steam train, very easy to drive on a hill and on SSI headers/3 outlet sounds just .....bloody great.
There is no substitute for cubic inches, and Porsche have known that for a few years.
Leave the engine in there, chip it and get on the hills!
It is a great sport. Do the Porsche Speed Series and never look back.
